Final Fantasy XV - Rumoured PS4 Exclusive?

Square put out an E3 press release today, they WILL be showing some form of new Final Fantasy.

Square Enix will also unveil the first look at the next-generation of FINAL FANTASY.

Not sure about exclusivity, but this is now official. Versus XIII is now FFXV.

Surely it's exclusive... Versus XIII was and if the first part of the rumour is true - that Versus is now XV - then maybe the bit about Sony helping out with the development is also true.

It could well be that the game is exclusive and it simply wasn't mentioned by Nomura. KH3 wasn't announced as exclusive either and that hardly seems like a fit for Xbox, especially as they haven't announced a xbox port of the upcoming KH 1.5

It's very hard to tell these days without explicit mention.

The visuals are top notch, as always. It looks like it'll be quite the spectacle. The cast and story sounds like a load of tripe, again.

Could the gameplay elevate it out of mediocrity?

I think part of the problem is that they're trying to reveal the story and characters without actually spoiling things. Sure, we got a few glimpses at betrayals and who the bad guys are but I think they just want to set it up and give the footage a little context while keeping it ambiguous enough to remain a surprise.

I'm intrigued though, the combat system looks like it's had a much needed revamp.

It's always looked a bit third-person action game, go back to the trailers from 2011. Personally I think any shakeup of Final Fantasy is a good thing, and this looks great.

I watched an awful version of the trailer this morning so couldn't really make out what was happening, but all the running and jumping seemed at odds with what I thought were ATB bars on the bottom right.

This has got to be the most impressive trailer at E3 thus far! Wished it went on a bit longer, even it was already 4 minutes long.

Lost total interest in the series after XIII turned out such a rubbish game, but I might even play this one solely for the amazing graphics.

Was obvious the moment Sony spent more time making a big deal out of the exclusivity of Final Fantasy XIV.

They obviously didn't have enough to keep it exclusive and SE has bills to pay.

Shinra was a character in FFX-2. FFIX is rammed with this sort of thing (although explicitly named references tend to be limited to FF1-3 subjects). I wouldn't read too much into it.

I do wonder if they've retained the lore links to XIII. The goddess Etro appeared pretty important to the story; I think she might be the sleeping figure in the logo art, which hasn't changed.

The only FF game I've played is XI and I can't say I particularly liked it much, so it's probably the Kiss of Death to the entire series and doom for all its fans that I dug the shit out of that XV reveal and am rather inclined to pick it up when it's released.

Watching it again, and the other video there seems to be a VII/X/XII/XIII mashup going on between characters, architecture and general style. This intrigues me and it would bring some much needed "continuity" to the "modern" series if you see what i mean.

The blond guy certainly seems a bit like the "Advent/Core" interpretation of Cloud

Hmmm seeing more of the actual gameplay in that vid makes it actually look wooly as fuck; the guy playing it even looks like he's having trouble doing what he wants to at times. The strange 'partner character intervention' things look weird too.

Lovely graphics though. Just not sure if I can bear more teenage Japanese heroes with incredible hair.
