RPL City - S.21

Recommended Posts

Champions, Schmampions.

Played tonight chaps. We kept it very tight across both games, after a spawny FIFA rebound. Didn't let our heads go down and plugged away, and got our rewards for dogged determination, grit and determination. With some determination thrown in.

Honourable mentions go to:

Nathan: Like a man posessed on the wing, breaking/linking up play and passing 200% better than in the cup. Has taken on board his valuable feedback and had a blinder. Gold star.

Trevski: Come in with no idea who the fuck we are, never mind how we play, and had a solid debut. Would have got the Gold Star, but his gamertag let him down. Silver star.

Gerry: Noticed the danger and tracked back to make some awesome tackles, even though I wanted them to make myself look good. Haggis flavoured star.

Heretic: Had the balls to take the penalty, even though I was screaming at him for Smith to take it, all the while Dave was having little quiet babies in the corner, mumbling a growling "No. No. No. NONONO. No." Ballsack coloured star.

Pants: For being his usual focussed self, and rallying the troops. We'd be stuck with a point tonight, if it wasn't for you, you BAFTA cunt. GREEN COLOURED GO GO GO STAR!

Wooden Spoon: Dave. When do you go back to Town again? Are you just trying to get your price down so low, that they get you on a free? Well, it's working. - Grey font coloured nothing.

Guys, I'm thinking of doing some sort of man of the match write ups based on players votes for each game, kind of like what we got last season at athletic ( special shout out to kiko ;) ) unless anyone else would like to do it? If not then ill sort some weekly award titles tomorrow and sort out some sort of end of season awards also.

Also, good games tonight and there was a lot of positive stuff from both games. I think once we settle into the new formation we could easily be title contenders with the players we have.

Edit: just seen Mitch's post above which is pretty much what I was proposing, although the offer is still there if you guys want it :)

Top stuff lads, getting a win against the champs is always a good start.

Currently sat in McD's at Gatwick, being proper amazed that it's the normal 3 quid-odd for a double sausage and egg mcmuffin meal in here.

I notice we conceded a goal though. Poor show Mitch, expected better from you.

Quality Mitch. I thought both games we were pinned back abit. United know their gameplan, keep the ball away from the goal because the keeper is dogshit and we couldn't test him too much. Overall I think the results shared was fair but neither goal was one to remember.

RE the penalty, I think all the uproar over the taker caused Heretic to do this:

In fighting game mood today, grabbing Injustice if anyone else is?

To echo other comments, a very solid performance last night. We felt robbed in game 1 after that shitty rebound, so the dodgy pen balanced it out.

We didn't quite get going quick enough and were a little overwhelmed in the first thirty minutes, so let's make sure that's not a habit.

But we rallied well and, at times, the communication was excellent.

I'd say we definitely deserved three points last night, we had that brilliant low cross from Gerry to Smithstock that their keeper somehow managed to get across and save (how? 68-rated my arse).

And another top save from Smithstock again after we combined on the edge if their area.

It would be great to get Baring and Dan on, for all my running and industry last night I'm not sure how much of a handful I really was for their defence.

Having said that though, Mitch you were fucking amazing at the back. Just fucking incredible.

Nathan and Gerry both - awesome. You're really starting to make those positions work, it's like you were born for them.

We're joint-top of the table lads. Let's not ever stop being there.

OK, next week then. ;)

Do we have a few about for practice later? It would be good if we could try to get on (especially Trev if you can) as we are without Smith, Dan and Baring on Thursday, so we need to make a couple more changes.

Trev, this is your calling! Dave, you'll be our CAM! Gerry, you are the new Dave! And I am the new you!

Nath, you're not moving as you were great there. And while the RWB is a slightly better player, I don't really want to move you away from a position you're getting good at. Unless you want to go RWB? Up to you.

Sorry Trev, we were pretty much done by then.

Good practice though lads. Graham you were your usual awesome self, Al was very consistant and I loved what Joe did with the ball tonight. Timmo chipped in with a few choice passes near the end too. All in all, a great night. Looking forward to Thursday! :)
