Brilliant, cheers. I love the expanse of this game and I've only just left Havana :-)

Is there a way of replaying "missions" again at a later stage, and trying to fulfill the 100% completion rating?

Check the progression option in the main pause menu, shows all the memories there.

Did you survive though?

Yeah, I was lucky -after defeating the two frigates I went to work on the level 60 man o' war, during that battle I managed to fire off a few heavy shots on the pirate hunter, enough to sink it. And after barely surviving my fight with the level 60 man o' war I managed to run away from the other one. The level 60 man o' war is now part of my fleet and it can carry 90 cargo :D

I wish they had worked on the economy a bit more in this. It makes absolutely no sense that considering the amount of effort that you have to expend in relation to doing something like taking down a Frigate, one of which the other day had nearly 200 metal in it, the warehouses have near to fuckall in them.

Yes, they refill over time. And they're there purely for extra money and commodities. I find them really fun to take on. :)

yep very enjoyable just found my first

pirate cave to loot, also managed to take down a frigate to join my fleet for the mini game

Really need to get back to the mission just keep on getting distracted.

Really loving this now. Not sure why exactly, but it's quite undemanding to play, there's plenty of variety, it looks lovely, and there's always another treasure behind the next rock, another viewpoint to synchronize, another Spanish ship laden with Reales in the spyglass, or a pair of unsuspecting blokes to stab in the neck. Also I love the "whoomph" noise when I hide in a bush.

Not entirely sure why he needs two entire 30 foot long humpback whale corpses to make an additional holster for his pistol. He must be very wasteful in his needlework.

I spent almost all day on this yesterday. It's so bloody good and seems to get more and more enjoyable as you continue to play it. It's fun, it looks great, it's really nice to hear so much Britishness in a game that isn't Fable or full of evil scheming colonialists (even though it is), and it isn't full of philosophical guff (after about 15~20 hours I've only had the briefest of dealings with the Assassins). There are some odd missions though, one of which involved literally nothing more than watching a short and pointless cutscene.

Can't wait to get some more time in on it tonight.

This is currently being played in shifts in my household at the moment over the weekend my youngest played for a few hours in the morning followed by my oldest son in the afternoon & then I would have a nice long evening stint. Between us the PS4 has been on for almost 25 hours this weekend.

Great game & so much more yet to discover I have not taken down any of the forts or done any harpooning yet. I found the "drunken sailor" shanty & once the boys heard it they wanted to know where? I'm playing the kenway fleet on the ios app almost once a day (guess what I am doing now?). Looking forward to the xmas break :)

Another positive note is that the PS4 is getting used quite a bit & no issues with the controller joystick or sticky R1 button that others have reported.

Just had the most amazing couple of hours playing this. Took out my first fort and cleared that all up and all that was left was an escort mission. Now I'm pretty poor at sea combat at the moment and need to plunder some materials to upgrade my hull but this battle was epic. After a couple of schooners the big boys were wheeled out and it took me some time to take them down. Finally working out that I should be boarding and then repairing my ship every time I take out a bigger ship was a revelation.

I really felt some kind of accomplishment once I had finished the mission.

Before this I have only played a couple of hours of AC games but this is something else. Every Christmas there seems to be one game that I cannot wait to play as much as possible. Last year it was ZombiU and it's this one this year.

I tend to use the smaller ships like schooners/brigs to repair the Jackdaw & send the larger ships to join my fleet.

I didn't know you could send ships to join my fleet. All I seem to be offered is repair my ship or plunder the goods. I'm guessing that will be later in the game.

A couple of missions in I think, I have not attacked a fort yet you are braver than me :)

The decision to run with an uncapped frame-rate also has obvious benefits - such as tangibly increasing top-end smoothness in less demanding scenes - but it means there's a large gap between high and low end fluidity when the engine is put under stress, and the appearance of judder when frame-rates don't fall into a cadence evenly divisible by 60Hz.

This is most apparent when frantically dashing through more populated areas of the game, such as the central areas of Havana and Nassau, which feature some densely packed environments that put a visible strain in the engine. Here, the increased level of detail and NPCs cause a noticeable hit to the frame-rate, manifesting as a jerky on-screen update along with a drop in the responsiveness of the controls. As we've seen in past games this is something that occurs more frequently on the PS3 in Assassin's Creed 4. Frame-rates often drop down to the mid-twenties in both formats, but we see the PS3 fall between 2-4 frames behind in similar conditions. This has a larger impact on controller response, which makes fluidly traversing the environments rather difficult without accidentally interacting with the surrounding buildings and characters.

These issues are also present in the 360 game though - albeit to a lesser extent - and are just as irritating when they happen, so the experience certainly isn't one of complete consistency on Microsoft's console. Interestingly, during gameplay we frequently see frame-rates above 30fps sustained for short periods on both consoles when scaling the rooftops in Havana and in other similar locations where the engine has more room to breathe in scenes with longer draw distances.

With performance so far behind every other version of the game, it's hard to recommend the Wii U game at all, despite its image quality matching PS3 and Xbox 360.

These legendary ships are a bitch. Managed to get rid of the southeastern one, but fucking hell the northwestern one is a massive pain in the arse because it just rams the fuck out of you and the northeastern one is a pain in the arse because it's two man o'wars on crack and when you sink one of them, the other one turns into a psychofirebitch and start ramming the hell out of you.

The good thing though is you get 10k for taking one downside you can get quite a lot of money when you die over and over and over.
