US PSN PLAY 2015 promotion has released it's schedule

7/21 Journey
(PS4 / PS3)* $11.99 $14.99

7/28 N++
(PS4) $15.99 $19.99

8/4 GALAK-Z
(PS4) $15.99 $19.99

8/11 Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture
(PS4) $15.99 $19.99

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/...tarts-tuesday/

Obviously the prices/promo is US only but the games are still coming, Journey is a cross buy for anyone that owns it (and everyone should) but can see me spending a few quid on all the others. An expensive summer on PSN.

I keep getting the "your PS4 was not turned off properly." warning upon start-up, even though i definitely choose 'Power Off' and not 'Sleep'. Note that i always turn the wall sockets off at night, but this shouldn't matter.

Anyone else have this problem?

When you turn it off it actually takes about 15 seconds to completely power down after the screen goes blank - I used to power it off then switch it off at the wall outlet during this time and then i would get the telling off when i powered it up the next day.

The fan noise of my PS4 has got to such a point where I no longer think its normal, luckily Sony have been more than courteous in saying just send it back to us and we'll take a look. A lot better than previous customer support experiences at Game and Microsoft.

Has anyone been buying a specific box to send their PS4 back in? I was just going to buy a normal box and bubble wrap at the local post office but wondered if anyone has been using a particular type of box to ensure their PS4's don't come back knackered.

How long have you had your machine? Mine also makes a lot of noise, but it's a launch machine so I figured they'd probably tell me to piss off.

I brought it brand new in March of this year so it's under 6 months old.

It's always made a bit of noise in demanding situations but after buying F1 2015, it's stated to power up the fan to Harrier Jump jet levels of noise in the least (What I imagine) stressful of game scenes.

It's worth a go phoning them if you're thinking the same. The bloke asked a few questions, thought it's worth sending for them to look at and emailed me the dispatch notice sticker.

My launch machine is also loud, to the point where I'm now purchasing multi-platform titles for my Xbox One instead which is near silent.

It's fine when watching YouTube or Netflix, but boot up a game and the fan speeds up to maximum for the duration. As loud as the old 360. Incredibly annoying.

I was going to wait until the hardware revision with the matte cover comes out over here, and do a trade in.

Or you could, y'know, just get the damn thing replaced seeing as it isn't normal.

And deal with Sony's customer service for a machine that's out of it's one year warranty? Loads of us have noisy systems, It seemed to be the norm at launch going by the feedback.

Mine is practically silent. And to reiterate a point I'm tired of saying:

Don't. Deal with. The manufacturer. Buyer protections like the SoG Act get more and more at risk of being removed the less people utilise them. If you bought it online it might be a PITA, but if you got it from a store the only proof you need that your machine is abnormally noisy is getting the shop to stick it on next to a newer one.

That's true in theory but the sale of goods act only covers you if the item was not fit for purpose when it was sold to you. The shop might claim you've done something to introduce the fault and it's up to you to prove that's not the case which can be difficult. I went through all this with a Panasonic television and ended up getting nothing because I couldn't prove the fault was there when they sold it to me, even though I had it evaluated by independent techie types.

While I agree with your second point your first suggests you need a hearing test ;)

Mine is loud enough at normal gaming usage that the wife can tell if I'm sneakily leaving it on for some reason or another and on occasion ramps up pretty loud but never to a worrying level - I suspect plenty of them will be overheating due to dust build up, hot weather and rooms being lambently hot already.

Mine got insanely loud with Bloodborne. I play with headphones on - so I never notice until I take them off so I don't care about the noise. I do care about it kicking in due to overheating. Several 360 red rings in the past and PS3 YLOD have made me paranoid.

Are these loud PS4s genuinely on the same scale as a 360 streaming from a disc? Now THAT was loud. First console I've ever had to turn the TV up to play.

My one's worse that the 360. Playing Rocket League and it sounds like it might blow up.

Frustrating as the Xbox one is fucking silent, apart from when it powers down every now and then and it sounds like a jet is taking off. But during gameplay, not a whisper.

I did a few laps of driveclub last night in a silent room with the TV on mute last night, and all I could hear was the clicking and rumbling of the controller.

I did jump into someone's stream of Batman with Driveclub in the background, and that caused the fans to whirr a bit, but the noise would have been masked entirely by the TV if the volume wasn't on mute.
