PlayStation 4 Console Thread

Yeah they need to sort that shit out. I tidied up all my saves, deleting loads of stuff, but in no time at all it was full up again.

1gb of storage is useless for PS4 alone, let alone if you have PS3/Vita saves as well. Not being able to actually manage any of it is complete rubbish.

1GB per format, which is fine for PS3/Vita. On PS4 however Sony appear to let save files have any size they want which is obviously shit - LittleBigPlanet 3 takes up over 500mb! It wouldn't be as bad if you could turn off certain saves (eg Driveclub ghosts which take up 140mb or similar) but not others (such as the main game save) so the only way to reclaim that space back is to totally disable ALL cloud saving for the game which defeats the point of the whole thing in the first place.

Fucking Sony, man.

Also, I found this out after a quick google search when a YouTube upload failed, any upload can fail when your Upload list is full. I had to manually remove entries one by one from the list to allow for new uploads. Do mind, I did not remove any data stored online, I only removed the entry from the list.

Trying and failing to get a .avi movie on a USB stick to play on my PS4 using the new media player app. It can see the other folder content on the Usb but not the avi. The file is fine, plays fine on my PS3 and Mac. Do I need to have it in a specific folder structure on the USB or is it known to be flaky?

Ohhh New firmware update!. Can I now switch off the controller light?

No, but I can stil discover my power options (for fuck sakes, why can't they fix this message?), and still getting asked about people you may know, but I don't so I don't want to see it every bloody day.

My ps4 has been on stand by for a few days now. It's supposed to switch off after 6 hours...

It'll power off automatically after 6 hours but stay in stand-by forever. Not sure if misunderstanding or just adding another 1 to your post count?

last time I checked my rest mode option included "power off after 6 hour"? or did they change it again?

Rest mode supplies power to the USB ports for 3 hours - long enough to charge controllers - but then stays in Rest Mode. I think. Or does it? I've put black gaffer tape over the indicator light so it doesn't make my bedroom glow orange when I sleep.

Can anyone check to see if they have anything in the 'Players Met' section?

Played with a couple of cool strangers last night in destiny.

I thought I'd find them in players met and send a FR.

Empty pane.

They had pretty complex names, so I can't quite remember where the underscores ect went.

Still borked. Now get the error ce-33992-6 when I try to connect to PSN.

The update when I click on upate now just hangs as before. Router firmware up to date tried wired - currently wired was wireless) - all internet working everywhere elsewhere in house, PS4 works offline only.

Tried switching it/and router off since 8 this morning as well.

No joy. Sony of course won't do anything over the phone. Is that my PS4 stuffed for the moment in terms of online/updates? Was kinda looking forward to watching some youtube later & then trying out the latest Witcher dlc.

Had a look at verious sites and can't seem to find a solution.

There doesn't seem to be any info about clearing file/download caches anywhere. Seen some info about properly turning your PS4 off (not standby mode), unplugging it and leaving it 5 minutes.

Other than that I'd say you could do a factory reset?

It's been a while since I played it but doesn't Destiny have a menu option that does a similar thing? Sure I remember that.

Failing that how about hit your share button and see if you have saved video of their names? (longshot but worth a go!)

Be aware that PS4 can be quite fussy when it comes to Flash USB drives. It refused to recognise a couple of them when I upgraded my HDD, despite them being perfectly serviceable on my PC. I ended up putting PSPSUPDATE file on a portable HDD

I've just bought a 2TB external HDD to prise open and break upgrade my PS4.

Expect a post from me re: a broken PS4 and/or having some screws left over for some reason at some point tomorrow.

Why the need to upgrade?

Folk should just do it anyway and forget about space management. I realized last night I've been so busy with Driveclub and a few other games that I hadn't downloaded all my PS+ games since upgrading the hdd. Pretty much 18 months of games, but I set it going without worrying about space. Still got 1.4TB free, apparently.

I'm still with the stock hard drive & have over half still free. I suppose I'm rare in that I only really play one game (excluding Fifa/Destiny) at a time so have less installed. Have never seen the need for a larger drive. The PS+ giveaways I download when added keep the ones I like & delete the ones I don't.
