Yeah, definitely the full file. Tried downloading from UK and US sites- same result. I'm sure it must be the memory stick. The first 2 I tried didn't even get recognised yet they were formatted the exact same as the third one that was recognised.

Crud, the right edge of one of my left sticks is starting to break away. I think I tend to push from the edge, rather than have my thumb squarely on top.

I assume there's tops to stick on, is it best to do it now or wait until it properly breaks off?

I did the thing where you replace them with xbone sticks bought from ebay. I think they're way better, much more grip on them. They're a bit taller too - I prefer that, but some don't.

I've heard about putting Bone sticks in. Do they fit perfectly? For some reason I find it strange that a component would be universal like that.

I've done and they do fit perfectly. I'm also a total novice at opening up things and messing with them. So it's easy is what I'm saying.

For those of you no doubt desperately waiting to hear the latest on my exciting battle with updating the PS4 HDD- its done! Got a new memory stick that was 2GB, same file, same process as before but this time it worked without any issues.

PlayStation. Go Figure.

Just had a look about, are there any first party ones, or do I just grab any old replacement sticks that rate highly?

Just started playing The Witcher 3 and have a curious issue. The gamma slider this game uses is the first where I can't resolve an image. At all. The circle stays totally black no matter how much I dial it forward or back. I switched to one of my t.v's 'professional' settings and the image showed, but no matter what I can't get it to resolve under 'GAME.'

Tried switching the PS4's RGB to full, limited, and automatic but none of it makes a difference. Some forums suggested to match the t.vs RGB output to the PS4, but I can't find any options like that on my set under normal or advanced. The game still looks great, but this is kind of a niggling splinter in my side now. Some are thinking it may be a bug.

Be wary of the Xbone sticks on ebay, I have some from ages ago and they are original parts and as on here I have banged on about how much better they are and don't fall apart to mates - one has replaced with the non original parts and they have fallen apart much like the Sony ones after a few hundred hours use.

In short try to get OEM parts.

I'm not convinced that any of the "OEM" parts being sold on Amazon or eBay are genuine Xbox One components, no matter what the sellers say. I bought two pairs and have used them since the middle of last year and they're still going strong, but they're definitely not OEM parts; they look like a mould taken from a genuine Xbox stick. I'm sure there are some really duff copies available though.

As well as being able to "Discover my new power options" on every boot up, I now note another new feature that won't go away. The "players you may know" feature, which can fuck right off. No, I don't know someone called "Tony Lamb" thanks, but that doesn't stop it appearing every single fucking day. Needs to have a "forget" option...

How many cups of tea did the install take?

Backing up the existing data (around 250GB after I had deleted a few things cos I only had a 250 GB USB drive) two cups of tea, popping out to wash the car, a trip to Morrisons and watching some of the the cup final.

Installing the actual drive took no cups as it was done in 5 mins

Putting the new firmware on took another 5 mins

Restoring the back up data took a beer or two and fillet steak and chips, with baby sweetcorn and mange tout with peppercorn sauce. Oddly it took 4 hours to backup and 97 minutes to restore.

Anyone considering doing it as they are running out of space, just do it. It;s a piece of piss.

It's definitely the memory stick. I had the same issue. As soon as I stuck the firmware onto the USB HDD I was using the back up the data, it worked fine.
