PlayStation 4 Console Thread

For those who have skinny hands and fingers, and own both a PS4 and Xbone (and 360?) controller, which is comfiest?

I'm wondering if I should buy a PS4 controller for my PS3 now (I'm getting a PS4 later on the year), or a 360/Bone controller + this

It depends on the game, it's still not got triggers quite as good as the 360 ones but the dpad is better. I'd put PS4 and 360 about level with the better one depending on the game, none slightly lower as both the overall controller and the tops of the sticks feel a bit small to me.

Went with the PS4 pad as advised. Playing wirelessly is an advantage, and would act as a spare in a few months time.

My only concern are the triggers - are they easy to slip off compared to the 360+Bone ones?

Also, does anyone use their DS4 for PC gaming? many of the Steam games use XInput, which could be a problem.

Think there's a driver out somewhere that makes the pad appear as an XInput compatible pad and also makes the touchpad appear as a mouse interface. If I remember where I'll post it up.

As slippage goes it's fine, I'm yet to come slipping off, unlike the vanilla PS3 pads before those Real Trigger things came out.

Edit- ah ha! And it supports Bluetooth, so I'm off to sync a DS4 to my laptop...

love Race The Sun, its a PS Plus freebie and plays like 3D Death Chase on the speccy, minus the shooting

its essentially a pretty 3d runner with objectives that unlock things like the ability to jump or magnet in pick ups

its quite excellent and well worth a punt if the words '3d death chase' mean anything to you

Is there a Now Beta thread? If so, I couldn't find it so I'll leave this here.

Went on PS Now. Realised that Shadow of the Colossus was on there and got excited and emotional at playing it for the first time since PS2.

Realised my connection is just too shite.

I got a Now Beta. First thing I tried was SF4 Ultra and it worked really well for me. I was pretty impressed. I'm going to give it more of a go over the weekend but I'm fairly sure that when it releases properly the pricing will put me off.

Oh wow - after a month of owning a PS4 I'm pissed off for the first time. I have ONE AFTERNOON to play Dragon Age Inquisition. One goddamn afternoon. One goddamn chunk of free time at the weekend. But I must be the God of Death, because the PS4 is saying: "Not today."

"Cannot load. Save file incompatible without the Black Emporium DLC".

It turns out the PSN servers are misbehaving right now. Some parts are online... but not the part that verifies licenses. So it won't verify or allow me to use any downloaded games or DLC.

I think I'll have to look into that thing where you make your PS4 your "primary". Would that prevent this bullshit from happening again? Of course I'll have to wait until the servers are working.

It's not a PS4 thing per se, probably all latest gen - but fucking hell - waiting for 10 huge updates to download over a couple of days isn't fun.

Added a load of you with requests. Not a huge multiplayer, but like well populated leaderboards.
