Has the quality of the sticks on the Dualshock 4 been improved since launch? I can't find anything conclusive about it. My controller displays some severe knob rot on the left stick but I don't want to shell out for a new one if it's going to end up the same in a couple of months.

I've got thumb grips on both of my controllers to hopefully avoid the issue.

Yep annoyingly every time you unlock a trophy it now takes a screenshot to fill up your hard drive. Stupid really because I don't care about trophies hopefully in a future update there will be an option to turn this off.

Just got a PS4 this month.

I also wish you could turn off this feature. I'm not concerned about the space the jpgs take up -- that's negligible. It's because these automatic screenshots are usually rubbish. The random gameplay on your screen just AFTER you won a trophy rarely makes a good screenshot.

I like to take screenshots when I see something pretty, and I don't like these automatic shots mixed among them in the capture gallery.

Like I said, I just got a PS4 this month. I'm mostly very impressed and happy with it, having been an Xbox guy for the last two generations. Everything is lovely.

But I have a few nitpicks:

- Homescreen: 'What's New' has a 'failed to load' error if starting up by resuming, which looks a bit unprofesional.

- Homescreen: two music apps, one of which tells you it is outdated and tells you to use the other one. (and it seems to be Spotify -- if it's Spotify, just call it the Spotify app, don't be confusing.)

- Homescreen: I wish there were some organisational options, such as removing things I don't use from view, or "bring all games to front". It hurts my OCD to see installed games scattered along the line.

- Very limited selection of profile avatars, they're all rubbish and don't say what games they come from.

- Game information for installed games includes a big blue button: "BUY NOW: £49.99". This is confusing and distracting. I have bought the game.

- Playing a Blu-ray disc ALWAYS halts proceedings with a full-screen nag asking if I want to use online features YES / NO. Why can't it respect the "no" choice?? (just to spite me it does respect the "yes" choice.)

- Youtube app: Signing-in to my current Youtube account seems to require a mandatory linking of PSN account. I don't wish to link these accounts (my choice, my reasons). So I must back out of the sign-in screen and not be a logged-in user, making the Youtube app rather pointless.

- Controller: the Options button (i.e. Start button) is so awkwardly placed, not natural for the thumb to find it at all.

Don't disagree with any of that. It's constantly recording video, right? The screenshot at trophy unlock ought to go back a few frames, as most of mine are shite.

I had a disc which wouldn't play with internet enabled (so much for the blu ray spec), so that nag is annoying. I assume they collect data on use and really want you to say yes.

It's to capture the "trophy unlocked" toast - nothing more. This doesn't show on recordings because it's part of the system UI.

For a hard earned trophy you might want to share this, instead of grabbing a bland screenshot of the trophy list for the game.

Is that something anyone really does though? Show off the rare trophy they unlocked?

I'm really liking the suspend resume function. I tend not to flit around too much on my ps4 when gaming so it's quite useful to go straight back to where I last was.

The notifications are bier too and seem to have a bit more I reactivity to them than what I remember. Seem a bit more like the Xbox ones which I like as they have context sensitive actions to them.

One credit Ikaruga? Sure. If you are asking why you would want to, then you probably aren't the audience for the feature.

Will also be useful for ameuters putting together guides/articles online.

Really? Surely guides need to show you how to do something, not the instant after you do it.

Given the prevalence of video in videogame culture and coverage now, the huge number of fairly meaningless trophies ("You killed 1,000 enemies" SCREENSHOT) and the lack of option to switch it off (making filtering through to the screenshots I actually want to share having chosen to capture them) it's just a strange bit of functionality.

I quite like the idea. Obviously, I don’t think many people are going to be wistfully staring at the photo of the time they got the ‘Completed the Tutorial’ achievement, but having it automatically grab a shot of the point where you got a tricky in-game achievement is a nice feature. I’d love to be able to pull up screenshots of my journey through Dark Souls, for example.

It's to do with the mindset in the dev community at the moment - everything is skewed towards social sharing and connection.

I went to play Destiny last night. I hadn't played it in a while, but my PS4 is pretty much always in rest mode. When I launched the game, I was told I couldn't play it because it needed a 6.5Gb update. Fucking hell! Why hadn't my console just downloaded this in the background at some point? Fucking modern gaming! 6.5Gb!

Purchased a PS4 just before Christmas, and was using my own control pad on a friend's console a few months before that, both pads are fine. Then again, I don't play any games which involve frantic manipulation of the sticks, such as OllieOllie(?), so that could be a factor.

It's just a bit pointless in games like Game of Thrones where you get a nice shot of a black loading screen

My thoughts too. My Bloodborne collection tends to be a bunch of empty arenas snapped moments after the awesome boss explosion. :P

Dunno if it's been mentioned in this thread, but the complete Telltale pack is half price on PS4 at the moment at 32.99GBP. If you go to CD keys you can get it for 29.99 and still have 2 quid credit.

Bit of a steal for Walking Dead 1&2, Tales from the Borderlands, Wolf among Us and Game of Thrones complete. I've got WD1 and WAU on PC but still thought it was worth it.

Is it definately the full seasons of all of those games then?

Yes, cracking price.

- The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season
- The Walking Dead: Season Two
- The Wolf Among Us
- Tales from the Borderlands (Episodes 1-2 available now, Episodes 3-5 to be released periodically)
- Game of Thrones – A Telltale Games Series (Episodes 1-3 available now, Episodes 4-6 to be released periodically)
You must download the individual episodes for Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands from the PlayStation®Store, as they become available.

I am fairly certain the PS4 downloads patches and updates for the last 5 games played.
