PlayStation 4 Console Thread

I just had an email saying Hustle Kings is free on PS4. I see there are some DLC items - is it a hobbled free to play sack of s**t?

I haven't downloaded it myself but I noticed it was "free" on the PS Blog article and clicked through to the Store page, which says:

Rack ’em up and get ready to hustle as the king of pool games comes to PS4™, free to play and packed with exciting new features.

• Compete in 1-on-1 matches and multiplayer tournaments to rise up the online league.

• Hone your pocketing skills through 4 challenging career mode levels.

• Enter daily challenges to win Hustle Kings Credits and enjoy smart social features, with global activity feeds and a new ranking system.

• Buy special packs for unlimited access to offline or multiplayer games, and Hustle Kings Credits packs to spend on cues and balls.

Important Notices

• With PlayStation®Move support.

• Download this game for free and play it without making in-game purchases from PlayStation®Store. Optional in-game purchases are available that may enhance your gameplay experience.

Spend your Hustle Kings Credits to play – credits are given daily and can be also earned or bought.

In-game purchases optional

which sounds a lot like typical F2P shenanigans; play for free for a little while until your progress becomes so slow that you either have to spend ages grinding credits or buy packs to speed things up. I could be completely wrong - I haven't tried it - but the text kind of put me off...

Yes it is F2P. I loaded it up for a quick game - it has low budget menus but the game play was alright. I believe you buy 'chalks' and 'upgrades' to improve, but you can play the career. Trophy hunters look away, they look impossible.

Couple of quick questions now the Bloodborne hype has overtaken me:

Where's the cheapest place to get a PS4?

Are the bundles usually good enough value that it's worth waiting for the bloodborne one?

Are there any video outputs available that aren't HDMI?

There's a flash sale on U.S PSN that's worth checking out if you have an account. A shed load of stuff for PS3, but even on PS4 I picked up some indies I was passing on at a higher price - Surgeon Simulator and Home. Both .95c each. Yep, together they were just over a pound.

That's why folk always waffle on about getting a U.S account, can you imagine the U.K PSN seeing a deal like that?

This seems to be the place for best solo/bundle deals: http://www.console-deals.com/ps4/

Prices tend to fluctuate quite a bit

Dammit. Are they just one-day deals?

Fingers crossed this doesn't break anything with Bloodborne out on Friday :-/

If the PSN gets pummelled I think the worst might be that people who digitally downloaded BB early from the US will be locked out of playing on their UK accounts until the hamsters get back up to speed.

So the PS4 is going for about a year-and-a-half now and there's still no word of a simple notification for when someone comes online. I really don't understand why the firmware has had a pretty much useless notification for someone joining a party you're no part of since the launch of the console, but not something as extremely obvious as that.

You don't think it would be a bit more useful to be notified when you're waiting for someone to come online instead of having to check every few moments?

It depends how many people you've got on your friends list. With the limit being 1,000, if you're in the hundreds you'll be getting notifications of people coming online every ten seconds. If you're waiting for a specific person, they can send you an invite when they're online.

Sounds like waiting around for your date to turn up. Send them an invite or whatever.
