Lots of details leaking out about the new OS now:

Backup to External HD (sounds a lot like how you can backup Vita content to a PC)

Delete 0% games

Trophies Autosync and ability to auto search the internet on trophies

Trophies automatically take a screen grab when earned

Shareplay/Remoteplay at 60fps

Pause/Resume on standby mode

OS level button remapping

Anyone else having psn issues today? Won't load the store or start anything in my download queue - probably as it's reckoning it's getting 200k download (but 4Mbps up) <_<

Laptop in same room is ~30Mbps/6Mbps

Restarted the PS4, disconnected and reconnected wireless and restarted router - no change.. :(

I can see that's a nice thing to have, but if you need extra space for installed games then replace the internal HD.

Already done. Just seems that a backup to external HD so you can restore from it at will, rather than just install and run from it, is a miserable little compromise, really.

Would like it if they made the screenshot function PNG. I'm always disappointed by what it spits out.

Haha.

I think Sony are still somewhat overcautious and over paranoid post PS3 hardware hacking. Probably won't ever happen I suspect.

Yeah. I'm playing GTA exclusively at the moment, being able to hop back in quickly, or drop things at a moment's notice (kids) would be all kinds of useful.

Did make sense. I suppose it's just that I can't imagine switching it on unless I know I've got a good duration of kids-free time!

Surprised this isn't gaining more attention. 60 FPS remote play is pretty fucking awesome. If they can further minimise lag and have fully customisable button layouts per game then, well, best update ever by a mile.

Having just (finally) getting a ps4, and not having had a playstation since the ps2, can i ask for advice regarding the psn, psn plus network.

I assume that psn plus is necessary for multiplayer gaming, or am i wrong. And i see that it has free games monthly with a subscription. So is psn plus a must, in the way that xbox live gold is?

Thanks.

Dissatisfied PS4 owner here :)

Are there any colourful, relatively big budget games announced for PS4?

I`m a big fan of colourful games, love my wii u etc. Not really into mature (in the modern gaming sense of the word) games.

I followed the crowd and bought a PS4 last year, just for the sake of having a new console really. I play it extremely rarely and I`m not aware of anything on the horizon that will change that.

Recently, stuff like Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2 and Ori and The Blind Forest are making me regret not going with an Xbox One.

I had an original xbox but skipped the 360 (PS3 had enough to satisfy me, mostly thanks to Sega ports and some Neo Geo games, and then some stuff like My Summer Vacation 3, published by Sony). If there`s nothing colourful on the horizon for PS4 I might trade it in and get an xbox one.

Microsoft at least seem to be offering a few games that don`t fit into the "dark and gritty" mould.

I know there are indies, but I generally play them on the vita, and I`m talking more about big games with impressive production values (I`m sorry if that disgusts the true gamers among us).

Since I`m here, I`ll mention a couple of things I am unhappy about having owned a PS4 since last year.

1)Sony`s complete lack of interest in traditional backwards compatibility. Fair enough if the PS3 is too hard to do, but what about the PS1 games I`ve downloaded from the store etc. How hard is it to sort out a PS1 (and PS2) emulator for PS4.

2) The fact that PS3 arcade sticks and wheels etc are blocked from working on PS4. A pretty scummy move, in my opinion.

3) The aforementioned lack of bright colours/fun atmosphere/joy in the catalogue.

I think Playstation might just not be for me anymore really, to be honest. Whereas in the past Playstation consoles always had a good mix of serious stuff like MGS and all the western tough guy games etc, it also always had enough colourful and quirky stuff to appeal to me. When I look at the upcoming lists of PS4 games, all I see are the gritty dark AAA games and then a load of anime gal games for the otaku here in Japan.

Maybe the problem is the decline of the Japanese industry.

Yes.

Oh and make sure you 'purchase' (For 'free' once you are a PS+ member) the PS3 and Vita titles, because as long as you keep the subscription you'll have those games too, incase you own or get a PS3 or Vita in the future.

Knack.

I'm so sorry.

When I used remote play directly between the PS4 and Vita (i.e. not via a router) the range was terrible, with Resogun breaking up and becoming unplayable if I was more than 15 feet away. My interior walls are brick, so perhaps that didn't help, but still...

I'd rather Sony addressed the issues with the connection quality TBH.

New PS4 owner here, and one with a quick question as I'm the type who worries about everything...

There isn't THAT much chance of my new PS4 being cursed by the eject issue that some people keep reporting, is there?

I know from past experience that it's very easy to get an exaggerated impression of how prevalent something is via the internet (stuff always looks like the majority are suffering). However, I do keep spotting reports of it here and there (especially lately).

Related note: got my PS4, tied it to my PSN account when I started using it, and it now shows up as a registered device for my account when I log in to the website and check my account. Is there any other registration I need to anywhere, for warranty purposes or anything?

Oh yeah, I forgot about Rime. That looks lovely.

There will be a new Ratchet and Clank as well this year. And Media Molecule is working on a new IP that is certain to be colorful and quirky. Also, there are quite a few Japanese games on the way, including Persona 5 and a new IP from Level 5. :)

Speaking of Hotline Miami 2, it looks like March and April will be expensive for me. Besides Bloodborne (and Ori for the One), I'm considering the entire PS Spring Fever line-up, with the exception of Bastion, which I already own and have no desire to play again.

But Helldivers, Hotline Miami 2, Jamestown+, Metal Slug 3, Axiom Verge, Titan Souls and Shovel Knight is a rather lovely line-up.
