PlayStation 4 Console Thread

I am now doubting myself but I'm pretty sure Fez is sitting on my PS4 (unplayed) and I previously only owned it on Steam. I didn't pay for it and I've only had the PS4 since late December. There have been two or three similar free games since I came onboard - isn't Resogun free at the moment? And I seem to recall another one that wasn't in PS+, it was just sitting in a sale list for free. Maybe Fez was free to PS+ members only, similar to the reduced prices we get?

My PS4 developed the disc eject error yesterday :(

What makes it worse is that I own the grand total of one disc game and have only ever had three - the other two played a few times each before being sent to amazon so its not like it has been used much, I would guess i have pressed the eject button ten times as everything else I have is on the hdd!

I tried the pull the plug method, the hold down and rebuild db method but same - just sat there constantly ejecting the disc, popped the lid off and turned the screw a bit and its seems cured :)

I guess it keeps the 100% failure rate i have had with sony consoles - maybe the ps4 need to be turned upside down too!!

Quick question (possibly better suited to another thread, but...): do PS+ games ever repeat? I mean, take Resogun, that's been PS+ right? So... I'm safe to buy it now, because it won't be free again?

They haven't so far. They usually go on sale regularly though.

Resogun is a weird one - I own it, but in the web store it doesn't show as Purchased (like other games I own), it shows as Free. But if I open the same URL in an incognito window, it's £9.99. That's a bit misleading - it'd be reasonable for me to tell people it was free at the moment, going on the evidence, but it doesn't look like it actually is - unless it's an offer for PS+ subscribers, which I can't tell. It's like a village clock where all the faces are set to different times to confuse the devil. Now I appreciate how frustrating that must be for the devil.

Is Watch Dogs worth £26?

No. You can get it WAY cheaper than that in a shop. You can get the big boxed collector's editions full of shit for less than £26, and then you can sell it on afterwards.

Paying £26 for the download would be insane. Like you literally could be committed.

It's a great idea. There's little reason I'd use it, but if remapping works across the board then it's a real boon for accessibility; no more crossed fingers for FPS games having a decent southpaw control scheme, for example.

I'm really enjoying OlliOlli 2 (wasn't keen on the first but the added polish and being able to manual transform it for me) and Helldivers. I'm still waiting on Dying Light but in the meantime, these two should keep me busy for ages.

I think I'm going to pace myself with the new PS+ games and just one per week and give them a fair shot before dumping them.

Found myself running out of storage space this evening. Thought this was weird as I've just got PS+ games and a few full titles installed. Deleted a bunch of PS+ stuff and it didn't make much difference so went and checked out the storage management.

Turned out the vast amount of space was taken up by disc based games Id long traded in but had seemingly installed the entire game to the hdd. 30 gig here, 28 gig there. Deleted all the installs of games I know longer owned and freed up a couple of hundred gig!

Yeah that is annoying. I was worried at first I'd delete my save data, but it turns out that is kept seperate. Though I did find it reminded me which games I'd return/rent at some point but now most of my stuff isn't disc based I don't think this matters as much

I'm hoping that's a feature if you were to press 'options' on a game tile for example and you could remap buttons on a game by game basis.

Yeah needs profile slots or to be able to be tied to specific games. If it's universal at OS level going from genre A to B and having to remap every time will be excruciating.
