PlayStation 4 Console Thread

It needs to be a US account, so linking a US address would be needed, but I'm not sure if that's enough. It's so easy to get credit off Amazon that it's not really worth linking any kind of payment option to your PSN account, though, and if you've read the Sony Customer Service thread you'd see how mental adding PayPal to PSN would be.

Sale on US PSN at the moment. Knack about seven quid, still probably too much. Rayman Legends for the same price a better option. LBP3 is £16 or so, did this totally bomb? Quite tempted by Lara Croft & Season Pass for eight quid.

Its now becoming a bit of a challenge to fit anything on the standard HDD, other than a few essential games.

I noticed that I had a lot of save games from previously, now deleted, PSN downloads. I also noticed that none of the savefiles are below 10.49MB.

Even the Mimecraft file I had, which was purely to save the options in the OPTIONS screen, was 10.49MB. WTF is going on here, is this some sort of fucked up Sony standard? 10MB to save what your settings are in the OPTIONS screen?

Can't you upload them?

I have a 256Gb HDD. Gonna check my usage and zee if it's worth using. I'm pretty Nazi with my space management.

Edit: 230Gb free. Hmm. Minimum 512Gb I guess. Don't really want to uninstall Diablo just in case.

Timely discussion, PS4 is currently reinstalling the OS after putting in that 2TB seagate drive. Even while pushing down on the PS4 to unscrew and remove the existing drive, you want to know what didn't happen? Wobble. I must have some prototype self-leveling PS4.

I get quite nervy about upgrading stuff, certain that in my cack-handedness I'm going to brick the console / PC or whatever, but I put one of the 2TB Seagate drives in my PS4 without any difficulties, and it's been fine. The worst part was the time it took to backup and restore my saves (and re-download 30-something gig of Battlefield 4 DLC). Worth doing just so you don't have to fart about trying to micro manage your storage.

I posted some helpful Youtube videos earlier in the thread.

EDIT:

Here they are:

I fancy GTA loads a smidge faster, or perhaps that's because I haven't reloaded anything else, yet.

When I put the old 500 gig drive back in the Seagate USB caddy, it was quite interesting seeing the drive structure in windows. There was about a dozen partitions, for example.

New firmware 2.0.4 is out now - sounds a bit of a mess with failed downloads etc. If that happens apparently you should wipe the failed download file from the HDD, shut everything down and bring it back up at which point it should auto-download successfully.

Why can't we install games onto an external USB 3.0 hard drive?

You have to install a new one internally don't you?

I've gone back over the past few pages on this thread was there not a space combat game (Elite type) released recently on the PS4?

Can't for the life of me find out what it's called?

Strike Suit Zero? It's nothing like Elite though.

I imagine Sony are super cautious about USB devices after it was means of attack that lead to the PS3 getting hacked. Personally, I prefer being able to replace the internal drive rather than having an external, though it would be nice if both were an option.
