PlayStation 4 Console Thread

I too have joined the PS4 club today. I've got The Last of Us and Farcry 4 to play, which given my wife knows nothing about gaming and generally would make appalling game choices was a huge surprise. It's also the first sony console I've ever had. Possibly that's part of why I don't quite understand what all the stuff is. The playroom seemed to be an advert as far as I could tell and PSN is apparently broken today....

Will puzzle it out tomorrow no doubt. In the meantime I shall look dumb and ask a stupid question :)

I take it Playstation Plus is the equivalent of Xbox gold? Do I need it for multiplayer or is it just an optional thing?

Sorry, this has probably been asked umpteen times, but do you guys use a specific guide to installing that 2tb drive that everyone recommends?

I just followed the few paragraphs and pictures here, there's not much to it really. The biggest issue I had was just getting up the guts to properly prise the plastic off.

Assuming that's the one you're talking about, anyway!

New owners, be careful about what you keep on your accounts with regard to bank cards or psn credit. Sony will not help if you ever have any problems. http://remjohn.tumblr.com/post/105950714877/sonys-attitude-to-fraud-theyll-call-you-a-liar

Card removed. Of course that won't help if the credit I have sat in my account gets taken but I guess it limits the damage

I posted about it here (with a couple of videos): http://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/268352-the-playstation-4-thread-return-of-the-knack-teamcerny/page-961#entry10161306

Has anyone here upgraded from a disc game to the digital version?

I bought the digital version of BF4 Premium in the sale - do I really have to delete the disc install and DLC in order to use the digital version? It's 65Gb! Surely it ought to just be able to flag my existing install as no longer requiring the disc present? That would be easier, wouldn't it?

Pretty sure i had to delete BF3 on my PS3 when i went digital Fishy, i was thinking of doing the same as changing discs is a bit much - i have 3 disc games now and its a bloody nightmare...

:(

I think I'll wait until the double-XP event ends before deleting and re-downloading in that case.
