Are those the discounted prices yet? I'm a bit confused, is this a January sale that starts next week or has it already started and is it badly names?

This is Sony we're talking about. They made a PS Vita for TV called Vita TV and then promptly changed that in the west to PlayStation TV, then made a TV-service for PlayStation in the west called PlayStation Vue. :coffee:

Guh, the Trials complete edition is cheaper than the season pass, but there's something that just feels wrong about buying the main game twice.

As for essentials, it really depends what you're into, obvious thought it may sound. I think Far Cry 4 is a fantastic single player game, and GTA certainly is. But most of the time I'm playing Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, which you'll either love or hate. Last of Us looks incredible but, like GTA, there's a good chance you might have played it already. Most of what I'd consider classing as essential is cross-platform and largely cross-generational. Which sounds like a downer, but I'm actually very happy with my PS4. Oh, Resogun, there's a PS4 exclusive essential. And the P.T. demo.

Yeah, played GTA and TLOU already - Binding I have free on Plus I think? And Resogun of course. What's PT? Is The Evil Within any good?

FarCry 4 - wasn't considering that but it's on the list now. Anything in Jan/Feb coming up? I can get Japanese/Asian games too really easily here. Driveclub I'm not so bothered by, the serious racing genre just doesn't get me. The last racer I really loved was MSR/PGR.

PT is a teaser for the next Silent Hill - not a demo, as I understand it will probably have little or no connection. It's free (listed as a demo) and terrifying. With Resogun, get the season pass because the additional game modes are already great. Alien Isolation is another single-player winner, and Dragon Age if you like that kind of thing - I have it, but haven't really put much time in yet.

Far Cry 4 is a must-have if you're an FPS fan. It's beautiful to look at, huge in scope and demented in terms of variety. You just load it up, grab a vehicle and set off to see what happens. Two hours later you'll have several stories to tell.

I might pick up Shadow of Mordor this afternoon, which looks like a solid Christmas indulgence game.

Ah yeah, never played Dragon Age.. would I be fine going straight into the PS4 one?

Does PT stand for anything? Is that the one with the repeating corridor? If so I did see that earlier this year on my friend's PS4, phenomenal stuff considering the size of the play area. Alien is good? Nothing like the disaster that was released before?

How long does it take a new PS4 from fresh to playable (initial setup + updates I mean) + game (Dragon Age which I think has patches). Hours?

It's generally quite fast, think more 360 than PS3.

That would rather depend on your connection. The firmware update is about 200MB — downloading it to USB ahead of time might not be the worst idea — and I think DA:I's latest patch is of a similar size; that's actually quite small compared to a lot of games.

I'd estimate about 20 minutes to go from initial boot to playing Inquisition, maybe 30 minutes if you wanted to wait for the disk to fully install.

Driveclub isn't a serious driving game. In fact it's closest comparisons would be MSR/PGR.
