PlayStation 4 Console Thread

What media remote are people using for the PS4?

So far, I haven't. If I start using Plex heavily, I'll have to make HDMI-CEC work so I can use my TV remote (well, my Harmony universal remote, with appropriate button programming.)

I don't think it does anything without the plex pass for now.

It IS an awesome piece of software though. Well worth the plexpass subscription price.

Note. This is just the client app. You need to have a plex server running somewhere for it to connect to that will serve up your media.

For some reason I can't stop playing Terraria on PS4. I never got in to it on PC, preferring Minecraft, but for some reason on console it has really clicked. It's also cross-save with Vita, which is nice.

If anyone's wondering, Terraria is still under very active development, with a v1.3 coming very soon to PC and the PS4 getting it soon after. If I had to describe it, it a bit like Minecraft crossed with 2D Metroid. There's lots of digging and crafting, but also a lot of combat. Terraria has an "anything goes" feel to it, in that ideas the developers had weren't filtered too much, but were just implemented. This means that you get the usual swords, armour, but then have rocket boots, jet packs, grappling hooks, all sorts of guns, magic, potions, house furniture etc. etc. etc.

If anyone has it, it's also online multiplayer (with or without PVP), so add me on PSN (Harman_Smith).

I was outrageously addicted to the Vita version of Terraria earlier this year. It wore off eventually but I had an absolute blast with it while it lasted. Probably put 50+ hours into it; which, thinking now, might make it my game of the year.

I'm off on holiday for a couple of weeks now and taking the Vita with me, and I have Terraria installed (got it free with the PS4 version). I don't think I'll be booting anything else!

I was a bit disappointed, in the most entitled of ways, to discover that Terraria on the PS4 wasn't cross-buy or at least discounted like Minecraft. I might have to pick it up regardless in the new year.

Agreed. I think that given it's a few years old and is "an indie game" (which generally indicates better value or lower price), then I'd expect cross-buy for PS3/Vita or even PS4/PS4/Vita. I'd happily pay S$30 (GBP15) for cross buy across all platforms. As it is, it was S$24 (GBP12) for the PS4 version cross-buy with Vita. Which is fine for me, but now my son wants it on PS3 I'm loathed to pay another S$24 for just the PS3 version. I'll wait for a sale.

On a slightly separate note - I've got one of the 20th anniversary consoles on it's way, how I transfer all my games and saves from my current machine?

Upload all games saves to the (PS+) cloud or transfer to USB.

Games you'll have to reinstall/re-download (including patches) (go to Settings > PSN > Restore licenses - and then visit your library to download your games)

And be sure to de-activate your PSN ID on your old console, so you can activate it on the new one.

Actually best not - Alternatively if they're the same size HDD's just swap them.

Yeah, remember to deactivate your PS4 as your primary before you leave, I think you have to do it locally. Even if you don't set his PS4 as the primary you can still download and play your games on his PS4, but only using your account, if you set it to primary all the accounts on that PS4 can play your games.

Ah nice!! So if I forgot to deactivate primary, I could still load up my account and download my games as long as I stay logged in to my account? That's great!

One other quick question - is cdkeys still the cheapest with the 5% discount for PS+? it seems to have gone up a bit on price since last year.

I'm sure my PS4 decides to download at like triple speed when it's in Rest Mode. Twice now, I've switched it on say, half an hour after putting it in Rest Mode when it said it had 3 hours left and the game is done when I switch it back on.

Shame mine seems to refuse to download whilst in Rest Mode now. It used too...I never changed any settings!
