PlayStation 4 Console Thread

I bought Rock Boshers DX Directors Cut and am really enjoying it. It's a lovely nostalgia hit, and at four quid, even the price is almost akin to the games I used to buy thirty years ago. :)

I particularly liked the trophy i got for

sitting through the entire Sinclair Spectrum-style loading sequence. The trophy is called "Patience". :D

Is it cross buy or on vita do you know?

I genuinely don't understand what those charging stations do, that a USB cable from my PS4 or PC doesn't do.

Depends on what type of person you are - I'm proud of my home and don't want ugly cables trailing everywhere, it's nice to just plop my controllers on there at the end of the night and know they are both always fully charged and its a well made product. I got mine as a Christmas present last year and it was perfect, really happy with it. Worth the £20 it usually retails for. £50 is a fucking joke.

Its a nice little game isn't it?

Though I am finding the Spectrum graphics are making it an already tricky game, just a little bit harder, but in a way that is part of its charm.

Yeah, the fact that the majority of the sprites are 8x8 in size makes it quite busy, but I do like that - it's very close to the way many Spectrum Games (especially earlier ones) used to look, and means you can have pretty inticate screen layouts.

There are loads of games mimicking 16-bit graphics, but not so many that resemble older 8-bit titles (especially Speccy games, with their limited colour palette and attribute clashes), so this is really nice. I'd actually pay good money for some well-ported Spectrum games on the PS4. I know I can emulate them on my PC, but it'd still be nice to have a bunch on console. I still wish someone would create a decent virtual arcade application (similar to the one Microsoft managed to balls up on the 360).

I would love to see a version of Chaos on the PS4, it would be amazing online.

Sir Clive is working on a spectrum console.

Comes pre loaded with 1000 games and has a downloadable library of another 13,000.

Thanks Boozy, great info that nestles nicely in the PS4 thread! I know you get a bad rep on here and I know it's a forum in-joke that you are really an adult (lol), but you seem like a good kid.

It'll have a higher resolution than an Xbone so I suppose that's one thing it's got in common with a PS4.

To be fair on Boozy, he might have been posting it in response to my comments...

Yeah I was but the SDF never miss an opportunity to be fuckwits even when there's really no need.

I'm sticking up for you! I find the "Boozy is actually a 40 year old grown man!" stuff a bit tiresome tbh. I'd say if we're all honest, we all posted in a similar style to you in our early teens so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

When the next Mass Effect hits, it's going to hit so damn hard. I can't wait for a proper killer blockbuster for this machine. My whole life right now is leading up to Arkham Knight, I'm keeping myself alive basically just for that game.

I enjoyed AC Black Flag & Wolfenstein. I've got Infamous Second Son & Watch_Dogs to still play yet.

Once I've finished those then I will be getting Shadow of Mordor & Dragons Age which are both supposed to be very good.

My point is there are good games out on the PS4 to enjoy now & yes I agree I can't wait for Batman Arkham Knight & No Mans Sky.

I leave it in Rest Mode and it downloads whatever I throw at it through the Store and installs updates (apart from the 'inside launcher' updates like with Warframe). The only update that you consciously need to apply is a System Update, because otherwise they might automatically take Linux away again and people don't like that.
