PlayStation 4 Console Thread

I figured it would be out of warranty now? Won't amazon just tell me to go away?

Amazon can surprise you. I once discovered that the 14th disc of a DVD box set was a duplicate of the 13th disc, about two years after I bought it. Emailed them, they rang me up and shipped out a replacement the same day. They also refunded my original purchase, which I suspect was an error on their part, but I decided they probably know what they're doing and didn't ask any questions.

tl;dr: worth a try.

Thanks for the advice everyone. They just gave me Sony's telephone number and that number now points me to the Sony website. Hmmm.

I went on the online chat about a faulty £500 DSLR and they said it was out of warranty after 2 years, so I quoted the SoGA to them and said that wasn't true, and that for a premium product it should last longer, and that as the retailer my contract was with them.

The inline chat agent escalated it internally, they came back to me within 48 hours and offered me a £350 refund in vouchers.

I was good with that.

I've changed two through Sony's website. All you have to do is give them the serial numbers off the controller and console, then they email you a prepaid return label. Very easy.

The right trigger on my pad also bust, and despite lots of good advice in here, Amazon simply wouldn't entertain swapping it at all. I don't know whether that was because it was the original pad that came with my PS4, which makes things more complicated maybe. In the end, I rang Sony and they swapped it for a new one. Like Bazjam says above, it's pretty easy.

You can get those PS1 style PS4s on eBay. There's going to be loads going up for sale any minute now.

I don't think there's a need to rush on one of these, now. Ever since it came out that they're basically skipping territories like Europe, Australia, etc. Hold out a few months then bag one for a less insane price, I reckon.

For those wanting a 20th Anniversary PS4 console, Sony UK are making you jump through some hoops.

You could potentially get it for under £20 though.

What a crappy way to sell it, just say give us £19.94 for charity and 94 people will be randomly chosen to get a PS4

They're selling 50 per day for the next three days for RRP too. Which is great if you're in or near London, and don't have to go to work.

They've handled this whole thing pretty badly to be honest. It's great they've made an actual limited edition console, just a shame the different regions couldn't work together and figure out a decent way to sell them. Here in Copenhagen for example I've not heard a thing about them being available, I saw an advert for a Swedish retailer holding a Driveclub competition and the winner gets one of the consoles. But that's it. They don't have any for sale, just that one console.

Bah.

So, apparently according to some bloke in the queue via Twitter, the first 94 were given a wristband, presumably meaning they can head home and pop back in the morning for massive profits. Lucky buggers.

Not sure how it's a PR win for Sony if ebay will make way more off that batch of consoles than the supposed charity beneficiary.

[so bitter]

What the fuck? I assumed they were at least going to go through the queue randomly selecting people.

Are the thumb grips for the ps4 sticks any good? My controller's sticks are now very slippery and it is starting to get on my nerves. Any other tricks for making them more grippy again?

Yep the thumb grips are very good & cheap, I have them on both controllers.
