PlayStation 4 Console Thread

I got a controller from Amazon on Black Friday and the sticks are a little rougher and less spongey. My launch pad (heh) has split slightly on the left stick and it looks like that can't happen on the new version.

When i was following the stick scandal people on GAF had had 2nd gen pads fail already, dunno if yours is a 2nd gen or 3rd gen if there is one - there was a way to tell that GAF worked out but since fitting bone sticks i lost interest so haven't read it in a while.

Can't believe I missed BF4 Premium edition for half price today. Fuck sake!

I take it I can create a new account and buy it from PSN US? How does that work for playing under my UK idiwa account rather than idiwa-yankydoodle account.

You can play on your UK account fine, you need to buy US premium if buying separately.

Have you got the free games 'bought' garden warfare on ps4, nfs on vita and mirrors edge on ps3??

Because it's an upscaled port of the PC version? I mean, what is there to discuss?

That bit in the Sony event felt like a troll, to be honest. You kept expecting the old graphics they were showing to fade away and be replaced with the new, remastered ones, but... nope. It's just the old graphics. Just the old everything. 'Coming 2015 - $39.99!'

Nah.

Why is there no discussion of the fact that Final Fantasy VII is being rereleased on the PS4 in the Spring? It's a port of the PC version. But still, Final Fantasy when it was still good!

I like the fact it's laced with cheats like the PC one. So I can deal with finishing it.

Those of you thinking of changing sticks on the DS4, just be careful with the ribbon that links the touchpad inside, its somewhat fiddly. Rest of it is fine, though it took the best part of an hour to get it all working.

I do have a nice red DS4 with red Xbone sticks however now.

I'm likely to fuck it up which is why I won't bother changing the sticks. I'll just keep sending it back to Sony for repair.

What's that 2TB drive that everyone seems to be putting in their PS4s?

I've had to delete stuff this weekend!

This is the one Eurogamer recommended (and which I've got in mine): http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2489935.htm

Amazon have it as well, but it's slightly more expensive: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00ILALU9G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's in a caddy, but it's easy to remove. Here're a couple of Youtube videos that I found useful. The second one isn't in English, but you can follow it easily enough and I used the credit-card method displayed in it to open the caddy without damaging it...

The worst part was backing everything up and then re-installing it again afterwards - especially all the Battlefield 4 DLC - which took much longer than the actual process of switching the drives.

Awesome - cheers

My right trigger appears to be broken - it's not fully springing back and so is useless for shooters. It seems to be a fairly common problem and was a launch day console, is my only answer to buy a new one? I've looked up a few 'fix' videos but I think I'm more likely to mess something else up.

Call place you bought it from, request replacement, send off old pad, receive replacement, enjoy playing.

I figured it would be out of warranty now? Won't amazon just tell me to go away?

Sale of Goods Act blah blah, retailer is responsible for the quality of the item bought for the reasonable lifetime of it blah blah, manufacturer's warranties are something you shouldn't ever have to deal with blah blah...
