PlayStation 4 Console Thread

That is CEC - most companies brand it differently, few call it 'CEC', but it's the same thing. I have a Panny (few years old now) and it (Viera Link) works fine - it is CEC - just as it did with the PS3. Apart from the auto-switching people describe, if that's an issue.

In exiting why doesn't my pad charge news.....

I did some reading and apparently its a pretty common issue, main cause is using the wrong lead so you can power the pad but not charge it - something to do with the fit of the plug rather than wiring of leads etc!

So i tried another lead from a Samsung mobile and sure enough the pad now shows the charging animation in the top left but it still doesn't glow orange...

Does the Sony supplied lead have one of those in line ferrite magnets by the big usb plug? was sure i was using the Sony supplied one!

Is it buggered again? - could sign in and do the last system update (but it took over an hour to dl 270mb)

Just spins the waiting icon when trying to get into the store or put in my profile data..

Connection seems fine otherwise - the 50mb iPlayer install I tried right after on XBL took <30 sec..

I didn't know this (due to not particularly following any development of the PS4), but the PS3 Bluetooth Remote doesn't work with the PS4 and neither does the Wireless Bluetooth headset. Fair enough, there appears to be something in the way that Bluetooth operates which is stopping them working. But seriously, why hasn't Sony sorted their shit out and released (or even announced) PS4 versions of this kit?

I installed the 2tb recommended by Eurogamer and its been brilliant. Everything seems to be that little bit smoother and the size is great.

One thing though - it seems that at certain points there's a beep noise... It's nothing like the turn on and turn off sound the PS4 makes but something different, and it's coming from the hard drive itself it seems. I mean everything works fine but I just found it a bit off putting. From a quick search it seems I'm not the only one either.

Anyone else had similar?

Think my PS4 might be on it's way to repairsville.

Last night the bloody disc drive started to try ejecting a phantom disc every twenty seconds. I googled a fix by pulling out the power chord and holding down the power button until it beeped. That somehow seems to have fixed it, but I'm guessing that's probably a temporary fix.

Anyone else had this problem?

I wish all technical issues could be solved by pulling out a power chord.

I had, and it returned a handful of times. I have unplugged the power cord, placed the system horizontally, even tightened (or loosened?) the screw that ejects stuck discs. Every solution so far worked, but never forever.
