PlayStation 4 Console Thread

My white PS4 with DriveClub and TLOU is on it's way. I haven't played COD since Black Ops. What's the best fps going? Advanced warfare? Has Battlefield 4 been fixed now?

Was going to part with Driveclub, is it genuinely worth checking out?

Best FPS's for me have been Wolfenstein and Farcry 4 (for single player campaigns)

Driveclub seems a bit marmite. Some people hate it (while others seem to enjoy hating on it). Others either love it or really like it. I'd put myself down as really liking it. Can't wait for the weather patch though.

Having been at both sides of the North Sea in the last couple of months, I do get the idea you guys are utterly screwed in terms of PSN download speeds. It's atrocious in comparison to the speeds I get over here in the Netherlands.

So if you had to pick one FPS to showcase the system (or just the allround best game) which would it be? I loved BF3 FWIW.

If you are MP then for me it would be BF4, i play it lots with a group of mates so we can mess around having a laugh or play the objectives as a squad. COD i like for short bursts of MP and Destiny i don't know what i like it as it is the full of things i despise in gaming - trudging and grinding but when i play it i really enjoy it!!!

If i had to have only one for MP it would be BF4, i am not so much into SP campaigns so can't really help if that is where your time will be spent!

I generally get thoroughly decent download speeds on PS4 here in blighty, in stark contrast to PS3. I've found it to be faster than the Bone too - set off the FIFA15 demo a few months back, Bone first then PS4 - yet PS4 downloaded it first and by some margin. Everything wired over a fibre connection.

I think by this point we've established something is fucked in Sony's peering agreements and/or edge caching and people's PSN download speeds are essentially a random number. There's too much anecdata about people with really slow speeds (including me at times) for it to be the person's end each time. There's no common factor; no one ISP that's always slow, it's not always wireless or always wired, etc. If we want to get nerdy on this we could sniff the traffic, deduce the end points, and start posting traceroutes; or we could do a big Gallic shrug and chalk it up to Sony's typically scattershot software and infrastructure.

Just got in from football, showered and booted up the PS4 to find that finally the Last of Us hadn't actually downloaded anymore data. Quick look in settings and it seems that the option to stay connected to the internet was checked. Although it says that it will download updates. Does that include the actual game? I don't want to have to leave my console on to download the thing.

Battlefield 4 is superb. It's been out a year and I still play more than any other game. There are just so many options on how you can choose to play and there's constant spectacle taking place all around you.

If you liked BF3 it's a no-brainer.

Single player is a bit meh though (although nice looking).

Battlefield 4 has pretty much sorted out the launch issues now. I really need to get back to playing it.

Did you leave the PS4 in Standby mode?
