Is anyone having any problems with PSN tonight?

Every game I try and play has issues connecting to PSN, but if I access the store from the console, the What's New, test connection, update profile, etc it all works fine. Just within games it fails.

Only had it for a day, but Driveclub is the nearest thing I've seen to Burnout 2 on Xbox, which is still my all time favourite racing game. Really enjoyed Driveclub yesterday, and this was after the man in the shop told me to get the LBP pack instead because Driveclub was broken.

Its Monday isn't it? PSN never works on Monday nights.

Can you elaborate on this a little? I don't know much about Driveclub but if it plays anything like Burnout 2 then I'd definitely be interested to try it.

Elaborate I will!

I loved Burnout 2 and it's very backward compatible on the 360 (only the rain levels are a bit slow, but otherwise it's good). I like the handling, the way it's not taking itself too seriously. It's like Ridge Racer with the drafting, but not as over the top.

For the record, I love Ridge Racer, Sega Rally, all that sort of thing. I find Gran Turismo too much of a simulation, and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit always felt to me like the controls were sluggish and unresponsive. They weren't, and i think it was a simulation of real car handling, but to me it removed the arcade reactions and made you have to remember the courses and plan ahead. Screw all that, I like arcade racers. Outrun 2 will probably be my all time favourite game.

So Driveclub is apparently broken online (although I haven't seen any evidence of this on my first day), but the single player mode seems to be a really nice compromise between the "real" racing of Gran Turismo with the speed and drifting of Burnout 2. So I was very pleasantly surprised by this. I'd expected something a bit more sensible.

It is a sensible race game, don't get me wrong, but it's all on the side of the arcade, nowhere near Ridge Racer handling of course, but much the same as Burnout 2, so it's great in my book. I've read a lot of criticism of the game, but after one day I'm loving it and it's getting all my attention!

Hmm, £17.99 is just too good to pass up, god damn it - even though I'll never get round to playing it again (or anything else much) while Destiny's still in the disc drive.

Take it out, snap the disc, enjoy other games. Easy. :P

Burnout 2 is my favourite ever racing game so your words intrigue me.

Ooh, Dynasty Warriors Next. Always had an interest in it, but not for full price. I go to the Store to buy it and discover I already own it. It must have been part of PS+ some time ago. Sony, why can I not sort games I own by system. I own well over 1000 products, do not have me flick through pages and pages of content just to remember what I have and what not. Fuck sake.

Yeah but how interested in it are you really? It's been there for you to play, cost free, for months, and you haven't bothered.

Thanks a lot, this is really insightful - I'll check it out.

Speaking of the Wii U, I wish Sony would get some of the Nintendo network engineers in to help them as the network is still the absolute worst. Popped home around 1300, set off The Last of Us to download which was just 10GB for the single player. Excellent I thought, I can get in at 1500 from work and sit down to replay the game.

Nope. Hand't even started, in fact all it had done was download 500MB of the Driveclub update. A game I do not own and in fact have only played once over shareplay. How hard can it be honestly. I'm sure even the PS3 didn't download updates for games you didn't own.

Anyone got any tips to improve download speed? Everything else, xbox, pc or Wii U all come down fine so it isn't my network but 500MB in 2 hours is piss poor.

I find with the PS4 the speed is utterly random, sometimes its seems like 70k/sec and others 70mb/sec!

BF4 is fixed and awesome, i love COD and even Destiny is great - spoilt for FPS games!

Driveclub for me is a good fun TT game but to play online or against the CPU is no fun at all - online will come with private lobbies.

Not really the same amount of players on the Wii U network though is there? ( this is not a dig at the Wii U - I really want one!)
