Assuming you are talking about a PS+ subscription, rakuten.co.uk have a code for £10 off a £40 order (SPEND40) so you should be able to pick up a 12 month subscription for about £30. Don't know if the code is still active, it was working for me over the weekend.

Alternatively, cdkeys have £35 cards for £28 with their 5% discount. Adding an extra fiver on top of that and buying it on the PS4 makes it cheaper than they normally sell them.

I did this, thanks for pointing it out to me it's appreciated.

Do you know how I see when my sub runs out?

Having some problems with my PSN account and Origin.

I had two Origin accounts (not sure why) one is linked to my Xbox live and has PC games on it, the other is empty other than being linked to my PSN.

A few nights ago I used the Origin text chat help and merged the accounts, it all seemed to go well.

Now though my PSN is linked to a completely random Origin account and Origin have been less than helpful in sorting it out :(

The PSPlus 12 month card is £39.85, awkwardly. Wonder if they sell penny sweets.

Hey guys, I know it’s unlikely I’ll get an answer here but google isn’t being co-operative.

My friend bought a PS4 a few weeks ago, and bought it to mine. We played a few things (Minecraft, Mordor, Driveclub) which all worked fine (except Driveclub HURHUR). At some point we wanted to watch something, so I yanked the HDMI cable out of the back of the PS4 and put it back in my PC where it normally goes. Watching something went fine.

When I went to plug the PS4 in again it doesn’t work. It flickers for a while and if you try to boot the PS4 into safe mode the TV give you actual 90’s static. The PC now also won’t give me a signal through the TV at all, unless I connect it via VGA or DVI. The PC and PS4 both work fine via HDMI on other screens and my TV still happily displays HDMI signals from the Wii U and PS3. I’ve tried a bunch of other cables and I’ve reset my TV to factory settings with no luck.

So can I not buy a PS4 until I get a new TV? My TV is a bit old and could do with replacing but I don’t have any money for that yet and was thinking about getting a PS4 around Christmas. Has anyone by any chance had this problem? I found a few people online who seemed to have experienced it but there’s no solutions. Am I right in thinking the PS4 only outputs via HDMI so I can’t use component or anything?

Does the HDMI socket work with other consoles. Just wondering if you've fucked that socket. I know someone in here had that problem around launch managing to shaft a socket when they plugged it in while PS4 was on. Something about carrying a charge?

I guess you have to try every feasible combination of leads, ports and devices in the hope of making a discovery. How many ports does the TV have? Have you tried other HDMI leads, etc? I expect you have, but just in case. Does the Wii work with the same cable and port that are causing issues with the PS4?

If your PC isn't working via HDMI either, Occam's razor suggests some kind of problem with the TV.

Probably unrelated, but I set up my PS4 at the weekend and, being lazy, I just unplugged the Wii U's HDMI lead (while powered off) and stuck that in to the PS4. It worked fine and dandy until I played GTAV, at which point the audio became skippy - very small cut-outs of the audio every second or so (just in GTA). My first attempt at a fix was to switch to the bundled HDMI lead in a different TV port, and that did the trick. Whether the Wii's lead wasn't up to the trick or it actually just needed a reboot, I've no idea. But it was a worrying few minutes when it started playing up.

I've been known to hot-swap. but usually when I turn one on and the cable's not in, I'll pop it in, rather than "when it's on I pull it out."

:eyebrows:

I've seen a spark when hot-swapping HDMI. Having said that, Broker's last post there is right: it doesn't make any sense that the TV works with other devices and the PS4 works with other TVs.

Yeah, this is a bit weird. Maybe it's an individual connector pin acting up?

I tried all the ports on my TV and all the cables I have. I'm guessing that the PS4 and PC output different signal types in some respect and it's gotten stuck on the wrong one. If a factory reset of the TV hasn't helped then I'm guessing unless I can force the PS4 to output something else there's nothing I can do. I guess I'll have to save up for a new TV and get the PS4 next Christmas :(

I'll see if anyone else I know will bring one round, though the fact that the first one worked for a few days but then suddenly stopped doesn't fill me with confidence in that test. As someone said, if it's also happening with the PC it's most likely my TV and I'd really rather not buy a new console to have it reject my TV after a few weeks. It's certainly not a common thing, but it is something others have experienced. I guess I'll also see what Sony say, though I'm hardly holding my breath for their customer service.

I had something similar happen on my old JVC set a few years ago where it wouldn't recognise anything plugged into one of HDMI ports. I ended up having to get into the engineer menus and disabling a setting as it seems the port was tripping something when it initialised. Dunno if there's anything you can do like that but it's maybe worth googling.

My PS3 once became so confused by a cheap HDMI switch box that it stopped outputting HDMI entirely. I think it was locked into some mode my TV didn't like. There was some button incantation to reset it to 480p - I bet the PS4 has something similar. Try that.
