PlayStation 4 Console Thread

If you've been collecting PSPlus games, start going through them, and play Resogun.

If not, buy Resogun, and play Resogun.

Always leave on standby then you can still connect on network maintenance days.

PS4 pad is excellent - all the features like touchpad, speaker and share button are pretty underrated.

I have Plus but wasn't subbed when Resogun was on it. Is it that good?

Only bad point on the PS4 controller battery life sucks vs the PS3 controller.

Agree and you can't turn off that stupid blue light on the front of the controller. Also managed to crack mine by dropping it from waist height onto laminate flooring..not sure if they are as durable as the older pads or might have just been bad luck on my part... :(

(still think the Xbox One pad is better but that's just personal preference for offset sticks. However DS4 is hugely more comfortable than any of the PS pads before it and is a great pad)

I think so. It's a really good shmup in that it feels fantastic and has that pixel perfect feel of the shooters like Gradius IV. It's a cut above anything else Housemarque has made. It's on sale at the moment too, but if you still aren't sure then Shareplay it.

All you need to do is sign out and back into PSN a few days before the maintenance via Settings > PSN.

Good to know, but my way is much less effort ;)

Is Resogun that good?!!!!!

If you like old skool shooters with next gen audio visuals this is a must buy. Especially at the price they are selling it at the moment on the store.

Oh and its the only game I was playing for the first two weeks of my PS4 ownership. Despite having KZ:Shadowfall.

I have two controllers at easy arms reach from my chair sat in the Sony dual charger. It's a bit of extra expense initially, but sooo worth it. Simply never have to worry about charge.

This suggests a simple strategy for Sony: halve battery life with each new generation, and sell twice as many pads each time.

Bloke's had R2 break on 5 different pads. Sounds like he's doing something wrong.

I'm on my third having bought my PS4 in July because of the R2 problem, I didn't think there was anything unusual with the way I grip a controller but there must be. Having said that, I've never had anything but stick wear cause me to change controllers in the past.

The idea of LittleBigPlanet is far better than actually trying to play the fucking thing. It's quaint, it's lovely, it's amusing, the music is wonderful, you can make ANYTHING YOU WANT with it!

But then it plays like absolute shit and is no fun at all. I'm also somewhat turned off by the copious amounts of tiny bitty pieces of DLC available, and I feel like I'm too far behind to be bothered about trying to catch up working out what's what. That, and the game's reminders that I don't own Item X but I can buy it in the store! I dunno, if I don't own something maybe just stop including it in menus?

Have to agree. I keep buying them and trying to play them they are full of character and the creation stuff is great. But the actual game and gamplay itself is not great IMHO. It's definitely a marmite series. I bought the last two however won't be picking up this one.

Tearaway was great through really enjoyed that. Loved the way it used all the features of Vita to good effect and the game was fun to play though. Also liked the origami model things you unlocked that could be downloaded from the site. Nice touch although never actually made any of them... LOL... but kids will love stuff like that.

However Sony have always promised way above what they deliver since the PS2. Given time they make good, with the PS4 they will deliver on a far shorter timeframe than before but they haven't thus far. Seeing them so far ahead in the console race and receiving nothing but praise even in the face of abysmal failures brought about by decisions made at management levels with little regard for the consumer within a year of launch stinks of the Ps3 era hubris that they apparently had learned from. If me pointing out that they are less than perfect upsets a bunch of people here then tough.

The thing with Sony is they do great hardware and the software/games always seem to take a fair while to filter through. I think the hardware was released prematurely but hey MS were due to release too - their hand was forced to a degree. I'm sure in an ideal world they would have preferred to launch *this* winter but well that couldn't happen and allow MS to gather momentum.

Its not been a bad year for the PS4 - lots of variety etc with the indy games. However agree the exclusive AAA releases have been lacking however it as satisfied many people and is currently in front of MS and XBO by around 5m units or so. So in that respect it has been a stellar year for Sony with the PS4. They have technically the best hardware and the largest install base of consoles to build on. For many it is the platform of choice. All they have to do now is focus and get those exclusive games out to people. However even saying this I don't think exclusives are *that* important anymore it's a case of whichever system plays your favourite game series the best and if you are online the console your friends have. Which by and large this gen so far will be a PS4.

Same here - two controllers sent back to ShopTo with the broken R2, both replaced without fuss.

So close to going out this afternoon and buying one of these. Really want to play Far Cry 4. Is getting one on the high street a terrible idea?

Edit -- holy shit. PS4+GTAV+FC4 for £360 at the Argos that's a half mile form my house. Gngh.

Do it: mine was from the high st. (at an Argos a short walk from me) so you're not alone in having this idea, terrible or not. :P

It's really difficult getting anything big delivered here. My PS3 went to the wrong flat and it was only the builders working there who'd worked on my flat that knew to keep it for me. So I'll be looking to treat myself to a PS4 before Christmas from the High Street, sadly. It's not the price so much as the upselling, the BS, and generally having to stand in a queue listening to terrible music.
