PlayStation 4 Console Thread

Tempted to get LBP 3 just to play the user generated level that mad bastard did which contains the whole story including cut scenes of Final Fantasy VII.

I enjoyed 1 & 2, but was never that bothered about the series. The Vita version however was utterly fantastic and has definately rekindled my interest in these games.

US Gamer have given it 5/5 and claimed - similar to EG - it's the best LBP yet.

EG have been marking down all the other games for technical issue, right? Right?

Eurogamer have been getting shit for the past year for giving Battlefield 4 8/10 with how broken it was so I imagine they're probably trying to hedge their bets a bit more these days. I can't say I envy anyone having to stick a number on the end of a review considering the messy ways that games often launch now.

If it had got 9/10 somebody else would have posted it earlier perhaps.

The first game got an Edge 10/10 and nobody particularly gave a bollocks about it even then did they? My five year old niece loves the game but personally I think Tearaway has far more to offer the more aged gamer. Mostly because it reminds me of 70's kids TV shows.

The idea of LittleBigPlanet is far better than actually trying to play the fucking thing. It's quaint, it's lovely, it's amusing, the music is wonderful, you can make ANYTHING YOU WANT with it!

But then it plays like absolute shit and is no fun at all. I'm also somewhat turned off by the copious amounts of tiny bitty pieces of DLC available, and I feel like I'm too far behind to be bothered about trying to catch up working out what's what. That, and the game's reminders that I don't own Item X but I can buy it in the store! I dunno, if I don't own something maybe just stop including it in menus?

I'd try pausing then resuming the download. You should reconnect at a better speed, unless you're suffering from ISP traffic shaping.

I knew about that trick and had tried it. In fact in this case it turned out I needed to pause and resume 4 times in a row and then magically it started coming down at a speed more befitting this decade.

I just like pointing out that Sony have produced a stellar bit of kit but just like the last 2 generations they are incredibly poor at supporting it themselves.

I finally understand. Boozy is to Sony what Smitty is to Obama.

You're barking up the wrong tree on this forum, though, unless by

receiving nothing but praise

you mean the industry in general, in which case you're right. They should be taken to task for PSN's down time alone. But we're aware of the shortcomings here, as you'd know if you actually read the various Sony-related threads. Try "PSN needs to pull its socks up", for starters.

New PS4 owner here. Absolutely loving Resogun, what a game! My friend list look is looking a little barren at the moment though (aka non existent). Would appreciate an add from some of you guys - Captain_Chod :)

Best and quickest way to do it is to get one person on your list then go down their list of friends throwing out invites. Added you (omusmon)

If it had got 9/10 somebody else would have posted it earlier perhaps. I just like pointing out that Sony have produced a stellar bit of kit but just like the last 2 generations they are incredibly poor at supporting it themselves. In the past a complex development process was to blame for the slow starts on the PS2 and PS3, something which Cerny told us had been fixed with pre build developer discussions and dat RAM. To see games being released unfinished, delayed, broken was a situation that Sony effectively promised wouldn't happen at the machine's reveal.

However Sony have always promised way above what they deliver since the PS2. Given time they make good, with the PS4 they will deliver on a far shorter timeframe than before but they haven't thus far. Seeing them so far ahead in the console race and receiving nothing but praise even in the face of abysmal failures brought about by decisions made at management levels with little regard for the consumer within a year of launch stinks of the Ps3 era hubris that they apparently had learned from. If me pointing out that they are less than perfect upsets a bunch of people here then tough.

Of course they're supporting it you fucking imbecile. Games such as Knack, Killzone, Infamous, Little Big Planet and Driiveclub don't fund themselves. Then there's the partnerships and exclusivity deals for the likes of Destiny. The indie support which has seen a cracking line up of titles this year with loads more to come. By all means criticise the games, you've played none of them but that doesn't stop you. But don't comment of things you know nothing about.

So uhh any tips for a new owner?

Also the controller is so much better than the Dualshock 3 it's not funny.

If you've been collecting PSPlus games, start going through them, and play Resogun.

If not, buy Resogun, and play Resogun.

Always leave on standby then you can still connect on network maintenance days.

PS4 pad is excellent - all the features like touchpad, speaker and share button are pretty underrated.
