As a bit of a PS4 doom merchant (or forum reality checker) i have to say share play is bloody awesome, i was playing bf4 with a mate and talking about COD coming up soon and getting it and said mate said about Driveclub for Xmas - i said that i wouldn't bother but then had a light bulb moment...

He had an hour playing it, magic is all i can say as i watched him play bumper cars with the ai and walls but what a cracking feature!

Custom soundtracks is of course a nice feature, but come on - MP3s on physical storage? Bit 2003 isn't it? I want my PS4 to connect to my Spotify (or Rdio, Google Play etc) account and show me my library and playlists, and let me use those as custom soundtracks.

Now YouTube support is in there I really hope that they work with Google to bring the Google Play media apps into the fold. All depends on how much Google feels they'd benefit, mind.

PS4 is now 330 on Very (with no games). Considering getting one and Killzone second hand - is it any good? Or there is the 350 with Fifa and Minecraft deal, and maybe flogging them and buying Killzone. Which would be the best way round to do it, in your expert opinions?

Thanks.

The update has definitely, officially borked my PS4's standby/rest functionality. Even having rebuilt the db, reinstalled the update, turned off HDMI-CEC and standby power to controllers, it's still getting stuck on a pulsing orange light half the time and is unable to be switched on or off. Turning off all the options that make having the thing in standby in the first place isn't helping, so I might as well just turn the damned thing off at the mains every night.

I suppose I'll be able to say I'm doing my bit for the environment at least.

There's plenty of better value bundles for you to pick from.

So just put up with a broken console?

I'd agree there's not much point sending it back right now, but if a future update doesn't retroactively fix the issue, I'd be sending it back once they release firmware that doesn't fuck your console.

Well it's a broken console or no console. It's more of an annoyance than actual breakage, really, hopefully they'll fix it in 2.01 by getting the Stability Team to look at it.

Well, if it didn't work I'd definitely be sending it back. But it does when it's switched on - it just won't reliably go into (or come out of) standby. I'll stick with it for now - there's Destinying to be done, after all - and just turn it off altogether when I've finished using it. I assume (hope) the standby issue will be identified and fixed. Not an excuse for the update being borky, but it's not a reason to send the whole thing back imo.

Yeah, mine is clearly just the update not working.

Although now my controllers will run out if I'm not playing and charging the other one and I'm not going to be doing any downloading in standby but then that didn't really work brilliantly in the first place....

Do they often release patch patches? Or will it be a case of waiting for 2.1 which might be an age away?

I think the Rest issue might be related to uploading save games, as if I only play Destiny -- which doesn't save anything to the console -- everything works fine. Changing settings likely doesn't affect anything, unless you're turning off connectivity but then there's little point to using Rest in the first place.

It's certainly an annoying bug, but I suspect it will be relatively easy to isolate.
