Is there anyway to turn on my PS4 to get the download started remotely? It's left in standby. I'm raiding in Destiny later and don't want to have to wait ages for a download!

I thought we could add a picture to the background? Themes only seems to change the colour, everything else remains.

Custom themes (game ones) will be released that use the new feature, but custom themes (your pictures) are not there yet.

I updated the firmware in about two minutes. Now rocking a hot pink theme. Can't find the YouTube app (admittedly I've not had chance to look as my kids are watching something on YouTube via the browser) which I thought would be front and centre. Any idea where it is?

Despite PSN getting rammed, friends list and trophies are opening much faster than before the update. Trying to upload a video to youtube now, linking my account went smoothly, but when it gets to actually uploading the video, I'm getting a cannot upload message. Grey is clearly the best colour background.

I put my PS4 into "Rest Mode" 15 minutes ago and the orange light has been pulsing ever since. It can't be downloading anything so I don't know what that's all about.

I got that too, but doing a retry from the uploads menu meant it worked

Edit: Although nothing is actually showing in my Youtube channel yet.

I think the PS4 app on Android can do it. Well, it can over WiFi, I've never tried it over cellular so I may be wrong. Worth trying though.

Looks like another fail for Sony in regards to PSN.

Users reporting that they aren't able to connect to PSN after the update, citing Server error.

My friends list is slow as shit as ever, only 100 - maybe i need another 400 to speed it up...

Youtube doesn't upload on first go, have to retry and then it has sent 2 vids - neither have appeared on my channel as yet. I also had to sign in each time i uploaded a vid, thats a full 2 factor sign in with generated password....

I have had 3 CE errors already, not played a game - just with youtube, friends list and while idle.

On a positive note this is just normal for the PS4 and PSN so nothing is worse i guess!!

If you don't want to wait for the youtube app, it's available on the Japanese store. There are also 3 free themes on there too.

EDIT: Japanese youtube app has X and O reversed and won't let me sign into my account at the moment, but is quick loading and easy to use, seems fine.

Seems the delay in showing the upload was at the Youtube end. Everything else been pretty smooth so far which is good.

Both my vids are up, i think the quality is better than via Facebook so that is a positive

I've noticed that "connect to internet while in standby" is default to off on the new firmware.

Fucking hell, how can they let this sort of thing through? My first PS4 dying was a hardware failure, which you know isn't unusual but when the software updates bricks features it is unacceptable.

No issues with my PS4 after the update.

Could not connect to Destiny servers but that is working fine now.

Might be an issue like mine has, when I put it in to standby mode and turn the TV off straight away I have to do a hard reboot to turn in back on. I found that I have to wait until the PS4 sorts itself out and the white light comes on before I turn the TV off, then it turns back on normally from standby.
