Thankfully firmware 2.0 is going to let you pause downloads. The sharing side of things is also getting some nice additions:

We'll probably discover more hitherto unmentioned changes tomorrow.

So the music feature works by folders rather than, say, metadata or any other method popular in the current decade? QUELLE SUPRISE

Yeah, I've never got that either. Think it's for people with ghetto Internet connections.

Presumably, the ability to pause also brings with it the ability to resume. This might be helpful if a complete outlier, like PSN going down, happens.

You mean Zarch? Yeah, it's nothing like that, doesn't even look like it. Visually it reminds me of Driller more than anything, although it plays nothing like it of course.

I never knew it was also called Zarch... I only knew it as Virus...

I know it doesn't really look like it at all, it was just something to do with the polygons in the screenshots reminded me of Virus. No idea why. I bloody loved Virus/ Zarch.

3mb down 0.3mb up :( BT have "no plans" to install fibre and Virgin don't cover my address. This is in Lincoln city centre! All around me seem to have fibre but our newish estate seems to be some kind of internet black hole.

Not trying to out do you here but mine is slightly worse on 2.9 :( it's awful when one person wants to watch Iplayer and I'm gaming.

My friend gets 102mb he told me on sat...

I thought there was a minimum speed by x date agreement now, i think that samknows site tells you the rollout plans

But still, pause and resume is well needed regardless of BB speed - madness that it is only just coming to the system!

Yeah I saw that on wiki, never had an Archimedes, we were commodore all the way cos of my older brother. Learn something new every day. :)

My school had a few Archimedes that were used almost exclusively to play Zarch, Chocks Away and Conqueror. Now largely forgotten, the Archimedes processor went on to change the world of mobile computing.

We just had BBC's which were used for the L game and logo more than anything else. In a strange pre-cursor to my own career, I was essentially the IT department for my primary school at 11 because I was the only one that knew anything about them. Strangely, I also had a girlfriend and wasn't picked on for it either...

Zarch on the Archimedes had graphics that blew my 11 year old mind. Couldn't actually control the ship, but by God, it was witchcraft back then.

Notifications now have a context-sensitive PS button that will - presumably - take you to the relevant area when pressed.

Well, good to know they're chipping away at this stuff. Really feels like something that should have been in there from the go, however.

Are these updates available to download ahead of time? Or do you have to switch the PS4 on and wait for it to come down?

It will download automatically but the system only seems to check for updates overnight, with the firmware most likely to be released in the morning. So, chances are you'll turn the machine on before the standby download kicks in.
