PlayStation 4 Console Thread

If that's in reply to me, it hasn't proven anything. Just take a look in the Vita thread at the latest posts. Remote Play is brilliant when it works, I'm one of the lucky ones, but it seems to do the complete opposite for 50% of the people trying it and it's just a mess.

Think 50% is a bit of an overstatement. If it works for some and not others I think it's safe to say their router is the issue.

It's worked without fail for me whenever I've used it. Except when I had a crappy HH3 router.

The tech behind Remote Play/Share Play is solid. (Probably because it's not Sony tech!)

Are the two not going to be working completely differently though? I can, for example, use Remote Play when PSN is down/I'm not signed in, which totally skips the PSN side of things. I'm going to assume that Shareplay is only going to work with you being signed in and PSN being up, making the PSN side of things far more integral?

the only feature I want is the ability to turn OFF the fucking light on the controller. It is NOT required for anything I need to do in-game or otherwise. It is not a new, fun, funky feature Sony, its totally pointless for anyone without a camera (which probably 1% of the user base). I wouild spend a lot my time playing and a lot less time charging the controller because of the light.

It's needed for Morpheus.

Sony's PS4 reveal would have been very short if they only announced the features that were in the console today.

"We have this revolutionary new console which will change the way you play games! What does it do? Well, you can play games on it. And it has Netflix."

Compared to the massive turn off reaction to the bone's "TV TV TV!!!" announcement?

Regardless of the announcements, the Bone is in a much better place at the time of posting, in regards to system updates, network stability and releases. All that changes in February though. Bloodborne.

2015, the year of the PS4 Bloodborne.

That's pretty subjective. I have no interest in driving games, and I've already played all the Halo games.

Well yeah, of course, I didn't feel that required pointing out. Likewise, if you're not a fan of the Souls games, Bloodborne isn't going to do anything for you.

The stuff about system updates and network stability isn't subjective though. The Bone is racing ahead on that front.

I'm surprised Sony don't update on a monthly basis, all I really want from them for now is a reliable PSN infrastructure.

Well you said in terms of releases, but looking at both companies scbedules I'd say they're both pretty even, with the general perception being that PS4 is better for multiformat stuff, tben there's PS+ too.

I would suggest anything with online content is better on bone regardless of resolution advantages on PS4! Games like destiny & fifa are already better on bone because of PSN....

Other than bloodbourne i can't think of any PS4 only releases from launch until well into 2015 that can compete with the bone lineup so where are these titles competing with forza 5 & horizons, dead rising, titan fall, sunset overdrive, halo etc etc

this ain't Neogaf...

The constant digging at DriveClub is depressing especially when it failed to deliver vs we know which game

azroF noziroH 2

Sorry you also got a bit of backlash from Goaty's post in the Drive_Club thread about gaming being for 14 year old kids.

Fifa is just as shit on one console as it is on the other, no better online service can polish that complete and utter turd of a game.

Come on, Destiny on the whole has been fine on PS4. But this is playground talk. Neither console is starved of quality games next yesr, or now for that matter.

This is what I was thinking of. Won't save you in the event of surprise power cut of course.

I'm probably being thick - do you mean a power-cut before you've managed to put the machine into hibernate? Or does the Xbox One have to use power to save state? If you meant the former, then yeah, you'll never have a fail-safe against a power-cut whilst you're using the machine; unless you buy a UPS :P

On the few times I've used hibernate on my work laptop I've shut it down completely (as opposed to using 'suspend' which still used battery power), so AFAIK there was no power being used to maintain the state at all.
