PlayStation 4 Console Thread

Towerfall Ascension is still probably my favourite PS4 game. Only if you've got other people to play multiplayer with locally, though.

I tried messing around with the Remote Play stuff today while the X Factor was on; The Last of Us Remastered and Guilty Gear Xrd's demo. It's not really good enough for that sort of thing, though; the games look great on the small screen even with the reduced frame-rate but the increased latency makes them frustrating to play. I'll very likely be taking advantage of the feature for games like Disgaea 5 and whatever big RPGs arrive, though.

Actually this website lets you deactivate all devices attached to your account.

I've got 2 Vitas attached to my account as my original one was faulty. Is there any way to confirm which is which?

Edit: I've always found the Playstation websites to be a mess. There seems to be multiple sites and I can never find the one I want.

Got myself a set of the Sony Playstation Headphones 2.0 things, and after finally finding the chat/sound button and getting them set up correctly, I must say that are really good for the price!

I have been impressed with mine too. Work really well on both consoles*.

As for battery life 4-6 hours from experience but tend to stick them on charge after every gaming session anyway. Suppose it depends how much you use chat etc.

* Although you need to buy and adapter for the XBO controller to use 3rd party headsets. (£18 for the official one! :D)

Are they wireless? What's the battery life like?

They're quoted as 8hrs, and Eurogamer got just over 7hrs in their review. I was playing Destiny last night with on and they made a massive improvement over just the tv audio. Took me ages to figure out how to balance the chat audio with the game audio though, as every time I got into a fire fight the volume was too loud to hear party members talk. Then I found a slider type button on the headphones themselves (I was looking in all of the menu systems) that lets you balance the volume of chat against game sound.

Hi Guys & Gals,

I’m thinking of imminently taking the plunge and getting a PS4. These are the two packages I’ve seen that interest me

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361070718740?clk_rvr_id=717118982307

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/playstation-4-extra-dualshock-controller-ps4-camera-last-remastered-steelbook-360-2019636?page=2#comments

I have a PS3 and just completed TLOU. Brilliant game. If I went for the second package id most probably sell the TLOU and the camera (unless someone can tell me a reason to keep it) For the top package only Infamous really interests me in the games listed so I’d sell the others. I’m veering towards the second package. I’d get Shadow of Mordor ASAP; sell my PS3 and 3DS to raise a bit of cash towards the PS4 purchase. I also have a PS Vita and about 6 months PS Plus.

Any advice/help would be appreciated.

cheers

If you're really going to, I'd buy the first package from shopto directly and save ten quid?

I love my PS4 but as I, like a few people am considering an Xbone to accompany it about now I thought I would note down my carefully considered problems with it.

1. Controller rubber - Very disappointing that the rubber wore out and because Sony have never officially acknowledged it I have no idea if it's still a problem.

2. Controller battery - Dissapointing. I don't game a lot these days and I reguarly finish gaming sessions lasting only 3 hours or so with 1 bar of battery from fully charged.

3. PSN - Well publicised but despite paying for it now the service has been a little flaky. I still take 5-6 attempts to get into the PSN store (get the blue screen) and it's taken down at silly times.

4. Exclusive games - The indie scene is fantastic. The cross format games are one of the systems strengths however the exclusive retail scene is pretty poor. After a year there is very little worth owning a system for exclusively FOR ME and there are a number of titles I am missing out on on the Bone in contrast.

I think those are my main gripes after nearly a year. I have to say I still love it and think the Indie route was a good one for them to go down with things like PIX and Velocity being so good. The power of the machine feeds so well into the Multi Format stuff though I am wondering how much advantage Xbox Live will give them for the MP titles.

I am looking forward to seeing how they compare.

The eBay deal looks all right, but aside from FIFA 15 the rest of the games can be picked up for about £45 altogether. The TLOU bundle includes a second controller and camera, easily worth £60 together, plus a game which you could easily offload for £20 if you wish.

Unless you really want one now it might be a good idea to wait a month. Every retailer will be offering bundles in the run up to Christmas, and there are enough big releases on the horizon that there will be some variety to match whatever you want to play.

Thanks for the replies.

I was looking at a package now because I thought they'd go up in price/ be less value closer to Christmas due to demand.

I think I prefer the Amazin De package. If I can off load most of the stuff I can get the console for a decent price.

Some new details on Rime from a Spanish journo:

- Combines feelings of loneliness and discovery of classic films such as Jason and the Argonauts with childhood experience in the Mediterranean coasts.

- No combat, but you don't feel invincible, you know progress won't be easy. As a child, you are not aware of dangers.
- Original elements in puzzles, such as use of light or perspective (POV).
- Open world, but contained world. Tower isn't the end. It's the beginning, a surprise for players. "If you like exploration, I think you're going to love Rime. If you like to kill monsters, don't expect that". Comments on the industry itself, dev's role, moving away from Hollywood, learning from artists, finding limits of the medium.
- Art/gameplay inspirations: Sorolla's lighting, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus' animation, Jak and Daxter and "above all" The Room.

Why would anyone need more than two usbs, the mind boggles.

I have my Controller charger in one, Headset receiver in the other, I use USB drive for transferring videos and also Skylanders Trap Team uses a USB for the portal I think. I still wouldn't buy that monstrosity up there though.

There's a beta for a game called Invokers on the store, free for PS+ members. It's a moba and it seemed pretty terrible to me, but I've never tried a moba before and that might just be how they are.

This is really poor, no creep waves so it's basically waddle over to a tower take a few shots go back to base to heal repeat.

Wish Guardians of Middle Earth would get a new version, that was great.

I've broken my 2nd PS4 controller now (in 3 and a 1/2 months) where the R2 button spring has broken and it doesn't reset it it's default position.

I've come to realise I might hold the trigger buttons slightly weirdly, arching my finger all the way over and pulling it slightly outwards and down at the same time, so I can see why it's happening. Still, i've never broken a controller in the past and the only issues i've ever had are squeaky triggers and worn thumbsticks :(

I didn't realise headsets needed those, i just use one that goes in the pad. i think if i was going to invest in anything it woud be a seperate standalone pad charger. The amount i need to recharge is a hassle.
