I am getting a new PS4 on Saturday. What should I be looking for? Any necessary extras? Any solutions for the short battery life of the controller? Headset? Is a 5.1 headset worth it? Any help is appreciated :)

On the battery life of the controller just get a really long usb lead & plug it in when needed.

Headset I went for a cheapy ORB headset £10 I think from Amazon.

I've found the Sony 2.0 headset to be a really good buy. I haven't had one before, and don't even use it much online (although with Destiny and Driveclub this has started to change) but for many games I prefer to listen on the headset now, and I'm sure it's less annoying to my family. I bought it on zavvi for about £50 otherwise I would never have tried it, and now it's probably my favourite accessory. It seems to be widely available for ~£65 nowadays.

It's brilliant isn't it.

I also use it to watch movies on the PC and love it.

Agree... Bought one a month or so ago from Zavvi for £59. Great bit of kit especially at that price. As a bonus also works on XBox one too (however you do need to get a headset adapter for £15-20 good 'ol Microsoft! :D)

Has anyone with a half decent set of turtle beach headphones got the Sonys to compare them to?

I like my headphones for the chat and lack of noise but the sound quality is nothing special, the Sonys get rave reviews on here but are they good because of the positional audio or the actual quality of the sound??

I've got a job interview on Thursday and I've decided if I get the job i'm going to celebrate with buying it and if I don't get the job, I'm going to buy one to drown my sorrows ;)

Looks like i'm going into town tomorrow now to pick up a nice white PS4 ;)

Need to get some grips as keep slipping off and hitting the PS button in the middle of Fifa games. I know others have bought some and am looking at these:

Fit Xbone sticks to the pad, much grippier and don't wear out - really easy to do also.

Get the Grip it ones. I just ordered a set off Amazon myself oddly enough. Every review says they are the best ones. £8.99 though, plus P+P from Amazon.co.uk, but I cant find them cheaper on ebay or elsewhere

I cba to open my PS4 controller, when these will protect your sticks and can be easily removed if you ever want to.

The caps look identical to the gameseek ones, down to the packaging. That stand uses the reverse cowgirl position. I have a similar (usb powered) one. Finicky.

Getting a ps4 in the current state can not be a 'cheer myself up' present, i assume he got the job :)

Too early to say, depends on whether he wants to play Driveclub or not.

Cheers gents, I indeed was successful. I will probably pick up the white PS4 driveclub bundle then sell the game straight away and pick up NBA 2K15 and Alien Isolation along with a few indie games like Resogun.

Do you have PS+ already?

Velocity 2x and pix the cat are stunners you need if you don't have them via +
