PlayStation 4 Console Thread

With Quidco and the 10% off code the solo console comes in at a crazy £294. I'm really tempted to cancel my Gamestop order, but I've never heard of these 24Studio characters. Worth the risk?

They we're listed by Sony as an official online retailer for PS4 pre orders so I'd assume they were fine. I've managed to get the code to work cause I did it in my wife's name. I was already an account holder from when I tried to order the mega bundle from them (unfortunately I was too low down on the list and didn get one)

So with the 10% off, free p&p and 7% Quido, I'll get the Killzone pack for £322. Leaving me with £100 spare from the money I've saved up to get some more games or extra controller.

Depends how you define retail, the PSN prices are inline with B+M prices (i.e. Game, or rather their website). Killzone is actually £2 cheaper than shopto and some B+M's are going to be asking £60 for all games.

I agree with the general point though, digital games are too expensive, but then so are the street prices. Sony's pricing is generally in line with B+M's or cheaper whereas EA/Ubisoft are always a real premium like £10-20 more. It's more of the same to what we already have so it's not exactly a surprise that digital isn't cheaper.

As always, vote with your wallet.

Which is weird, because digital == no trade ins, which you'd think they'd like. Are the prices higher to cover credit card fraud or something? Or are Sony just dumping 30% margin on the price of everything, and so the lower retail profit margins effectively lead to the difference?

For some reason they're still letting retail bully them basically since they can't sell the console digitally.

I suspect Sony's deliberately opening their store to retailers so they can move towards digital.

That said, they're also trying to reset the constant discounting of rrp that even GAME do.

I doubt it's to cover fraud; the merchant doesn't have to bear the cost unless they've failed to comply with the card scheme rules.

Another cancellation here. Been umm'ing and arr'ing about it for a couple of months but I realised yesterday that I wouldn't be buying either Killzone or Resogun if it wasn't for them coming on a new console so why bother.

Will that require a US PS+ subscription to allow online play though? Or can you set a US account to be a child of a UK PS+ account?

My main account has always been a US account, but for PS3 I've bought plenty of stuff under my UK account then switched back to play it with no problems. I have no idea how it works on PS4 sorry, but I plan on treating it like my Vita and buying mostly US, and mostly digital with the odd 'PAL' disc.

Look at this shit.

I'm not a complainer and overlook most things - as far as I'm concerned Sony have done no wrong with PS4 so far, especially compared to the farcical joke that is the Xbox One. I wanted to go all digital this gen and have been promoting that to my friends. Now I'm gonna look like a fucking idiot, even the Sony published games are a rip off. These are more expensive then retail yet you can't resell them and you get no manual/box so they should be much cheaper. Still getting a PS4 but this has really pissed me off. I don't know why I'm even surprised.

The pricing is mental. I paid £30 for the PC download version.

I guess they still don't want to fuck off the physical media retailers just quite yet.

No they are now sold out :(

It's the pack with Killzone, the camera and the extra pad.

You're unlikely to get one now. I've been checking several times a day for the past week or so and when they did become available they were sold out in minutes. I got one from Asda in my basket and at checkout it wasn't available.
