The one menu's and do everything approach looks like windows 8 to me, I fucking hate windows 8 probably more than goats cheese.

His experience with the last-gen is pretty close to mine. Except I never picked up a PS3. Reason for that was half that it never quite got the exclusives to tip me over the edge and multi-plat titles were usually better on 360, and half that I was annoyed with Sony for continuing their PS2 tech strategy. With the PS2 it always felt like Sony was wanking off, showing everyone how clever they were with the unique architecture which, to hear it from the Devs, was akin to figuring out Hellraiser's puzzle-box. The system ended up with a lot of fantastic games but that was despite the tech, not because of it. I was utterly baffled when they continued that strategy with the PS3.

PS4, though, is exactly the kind of turnaround I was hoping for. Lots of power and easy to leverage. Combined with their courting of Indie Devs it's like someone staged an intervention.

Bundle of Asda is a no go, just tried and got to the checkout page and it said no longer available, removed from basket :(

All sold out now, keep an eye on hotukdeals over the next few days if you want to get a day one order.

When I prepaid my bone yesterday I managed to get a hands on with the PS4 controller - WOW - it's amazing, I have been an asymetrical stick guy and I don't think it will bother me in the slightest, one thing I can't get my head around was how grippy the sticks are, it's crazy ! It's a lot smaller than it looks in pictures (to me anyway).

So just got my 1st up close look at the PS4 - it's smaller than I thought - pad looks great. Shame I couldn't get near it because of the wee Glasgow neds playing Fifa. Maybe I'll go back tomorrow and try to get some hands on time.

Have to say though - wasn't hugely impressed by the look of Fifa - same game, same animation - slightly crisper visuals.

If you liked Hot Pursuit then NFS seems to be worth a look - there should certainly be some decent racing from forumites on the go, AC4 I'm expecting to pick up cheap(ish) once a few folk finish the main game. Can't comment on Fifa as I got bored of the series a few years ago and the quick look I had at it didn't make me want to rush back.

I went for AC4 but NFS Rivals has gotten very good reviews. Either of those will keep you happy.

You were expecting maybe a game of tennis? :D

So long as it has all the modes from the other versions and looks a bit nicer whilst maybe having some more power beneath the hood (more people going for headers etc) then that is all you could really hope for from EA. It's pretty much the same with all their current Next Gen output. Same game. Slightly better visuals. If anything Fifa has the potential to have more change under the hood because it could process more variables. They wont fuck with the balance that much though as they never have time.

Lol!

Looking forward to seeing how it pans out and your thoughts on the console. Gone with Xb1 on launch as the current gen experience has been personally excellent on Live and I wanted this to continue but fully aware and prepared to make the switch to PS4 at some point down the line if need me. For the moment I am very happy with my choice and the shiny new toy that will arrive tomorrow.

That could be all kinds of brilliant with some twitch streaming. Watching how others play their holes, looking for new techniques, live tournaments, etc.

I blame this thread, I did cancel my pre-order(s) but continuing to read this thread has just got me clicking the buy button again.

Live works brilliantly on the 360 compared to the PS3 offering but I am willing to give Sony a chance with the PS4 in the hope they can offer a similar experience.

PS+ is the main factor & the E3 conferences did have a huge bearing on deciding what to get on release.

Considering the release history of that series, Clap Hanz are beavering away on delivering what you want right at this moment, Sony haven't announced much in the way of what they plan to release for Japan yet.

I thought it was a case of the PS4 costs around $380 to make and it's on sale for $399 ? Considering retailers make next to no profit on hardware surely they'd be not losing any money ?

Nintendo were losing money on the 3DS when they cut the price, and the build guestimate for that was barely $100. There are other overheads to be accounted for.

Fingers crossed - I'd even import a PS4 copy of Minna no Golf if there was going to be the usual delay in releasing it over here.

Were Game offering any special deals for launch day ? I'm not talking about bundles as such, I've got the Killzone bundle on order, but money off other games etc.

I believe they're offering Lego Marvel for £25 and £10 off their already inflated £60rrp for other selected games. I think the info is further back in the thread somewhere.
