they sold LOADS.

With such a high failure rate, why did gamers still go back and buy another. I can only put it down to the Xbox Live experience. My 2nd 360 died the day before xmas eve 2011 & I went out the same day to purchase another because I was not spending xmas without a console.

I can only put it down to the heavy investment already in place for Xbox. Live subscription, peripherals, games - all will be useless if you don't have the box to use them with.

Let's not forget how late PS3 launched, and the fact that it was an absolute dog for a good couple of years afterwards.

The 360 is a really good system, i only had one system fail and then i bought a 360 slim which has been faultless.

It has lots of excellent games and the multiplatform games are generally better.(and i prefer the controller)

Xbox live is also solid although sony are now catching up with psplus.

I bought a ps3 during the summer and i enjoyed all the exclusives but it didn't change my mind that the 360 was the better system.

Thats only my opinion of course.

Seeing that chart baffles me even more on how MS still managed to make the 360 a success.

I'm not sure they ever did from a financial standpoint, it was a massive and expensive hearts and mind exercise to set them up as the dominant home entertainment system for this generation. A multi-billion-dollar operation they made completely irrelevant by their suicidal PR this year.

If Microsoft can weather billions of pounds of losses and furious consumers by selling everyone self-destructing consoles, it must give them hope that they can overcome a few dodgy decisions and woeful PR this time around.

The problem is back then the competition was also shotgunning themselves in the foot repeatedly (Nintendo with no-one caring about the Cube and Sony with... well everything). That's not the case now.

Playroom is still by far the best looking game on this. Genuine never seen before / new experience. I'd play the shit out of that with my niece and nephews.

I find it completely baffling that Microsoft haven't got some crazy Iron Man/ Minority Report thing to show off the Kinect 2.0.

Look at all these reports of hardware exploding in the vicinity of purchaser's children that I'm sending you! Look! Everyone with a PS4 just caught some disease from the packaging! Well, I don't. I just hold opinions and I'm not afraid to state them. As I said observe the disparity in what I supposedly am.

Anyway he's single handedly putting me off the One even more so I'm gonna get some nice vibes in here for a while. He's literally sending me texts apropos of nothing like I'm the number one PS4 cheerleader in the world.

In reality all I did was say what I thought of both (critical of the One essentially) and that certain issues shouldn't be sniffed at.

God it's so weird this whole thing.

I don't quite get the whole investment in the toy that you plan to buy thing myself if I'm honest. I understand that folk don't want to hear negative stuff about something they are investing a lot of money into but certain constant voices in both threads taking delight in any small percieved failing (see wobblegate, resolutiongate, etc etc) of "the enemy" does take the shine off a bit.

I'm just trying to ignore as much as possible though and look forward to some new shinies and hopefully some quality new titles as the generation gets established.
