So, now that the dust's settled.

Whats everybody getting?

Anybody changed their mind on games etc

I'm still locked in for Killzone & Battlefield with the obvious freebies (resogun etc)

PS4 Killzone Mega Bundle

Knack

Marvel

Battlefield 4 (upgrade)

Fifa 14 (upgrade)

NBA 2K14

I'll add that I've covered most of the cost with Game credit. Otherwise I'd probably be picking up fewer titles.

Taco Bell has given out around 4000 PS4s, so even if we discount press units the reported failure rate is a fraction of 1%. Not that I'm submitting that as a proper statistic, but I think it's easy to lose perspective in the social media echo chamber.

In a week we should have a decent idea of whether there are any widespread issues or not. So far I don't think we're seeing anything outside the ordinary, although obviously it sucks for those affected.

Yesterday after seeing the scores I will admit to shitting myself a bit. Started browsing boney bundles on shopto, just so I could play dead rising 3. In my panicked state, it was the only game I can imagine really giving me that launch day magic. I still think it's the most appealing launch title for November to be honest. but that frame rate. the seeming lack of the charisma which the first two games offered in spades.

Killzone's definitely gonna be worth playing despite the middling reviews, especially if we get a good muktiplayer room going. Resogun will be great. BF4 is so tantalising for me as I'm just getting into the series and could never afford a high end PC previously.

Plus it looks like PS4 is becoming the spiritual home for my favourite genre - horror. With Outlast and Daylight already confirmed, PS4 is a no brainer.

The only reason I can think of to buy a bone is Titanfall, and that comes out in March 2014. And we ALL KNOW what's coming out in March 2014. So it won't even be worthwhile purchase then. by which time the price will hopefully have gone down.

It was a moment of panic, but fuck me I'm so glad to be sticking with Sony. Fuck the 7s and 8s, Nov 29th will be an absolute fucking blast.

Significantly better? I don't think that's accurate at all. Gears of War Judgement,Halo 4 and Forza Horizon are ridiculous swan songs that lead me to believe someone sold their souls to get games that good looking on the platform. Gears in particular just has such a great combination of art and tech that put it up there with the best lookin games of the Gen.

Aye you make a good point. Looking at my original point, maybe i should have gone into more detail.

The longer this generation has lasted, the better games on both systems have looked. So maybe comparing games released at different stages of the generation isn't right.

But i stand by the idea that the PS3 was the obviously more powerful. 360s best-looking game is possibly Halo 4. But for me that still lags a little behind Beyond: Two Souls, which could give most next-gen titles a run for their money.

That rings true also if you compare similar-period exclusive genre showpieces like Killzone 2 with Halo Reach, Gears 2 with Uncharted 2, or Splinter Cell Conviction with MGS4.

Uncharted in particular is a great example. As great as Gears 2 looks, there's an interactivity to the levels in Uncharted 2 (case in point: the skyscraper falling around you) that it felt like a 360 game just couldn't do.

Anyway, my point is, that despite this, Xbox 360 still won the generation for me on an overall more consistent output and better console/online features. Raw power isn't everything.

It is all opinions though. :)

A good start, but the last two lines of the stanza really need work.

I reckon I will have added these to my download queue before launch day. That gets me shmup, a racer, an FPS and a Lego game, plus Flower and Pinball Arcade (if it ends up arriving day one). Not a bad launch day haul at all, for me there.

Yeah you are covered for most genres then !

I am getting Lego half price via GAME preorder deal and wanted a racer so was the only place to turn to !

Got a standalone console on order, some call it SOLUS.

Thinking about swapping to the KZ bundle, but quite fancy BF4.

Is there any point getting BF4 with all the current server issues?

I've not had one issue playing BF4 online. But I am only one of about 37 people nationwide playing it on PS3. :(
