PlayStation 4 Console Thread

There's certainly enough reports of bricked consoles to raise eyebrows at this point. I don't think there's any fear of RROD style issues though, simply because these consoles are failing almost immediately. That points to a single component break (bad batch of hard drives, bad bit of solder on certain models, firmware problem). The RROD was down to a systemic flaw in design, which meant the console simply ran too hot, and didn't have sufficient cooling to compensate.

There's nothing here to point to that (the consoles simply haven't been used long enough to evaluate that yet), so I'm hoping it's going to be down to either a software fault (easily fixed via patch) or a simple component fault, which can easily be swapped out by Sony tech.

Not the best of starts of course. Hopefully it won't be an issue by the time we get our EU launch machines.

You're all arguing about such trivial things when right now we need to be discussing the most important matters; what about the vertical stand? Would you bother you're going vertical or not? It seems sturdy enough without it from what I've seen.

Sony's proven insider mortimer had this to say about a new Parapa:

I'm not saying it isn't Queasy, I'm just saying that when I heard it that wasn't the team I was told. But rumors and stuff... you know how it goes.

It's happening though, that's what you should take out of this. And it may not be the only old sony IP given to an indie.

Didn't you say a friend just got diagnosed with cancer? And you're crying over a console "wobbling" if you go over and apply pressure to one corner?

Fuck me, you of all people should have some perspective.

Thank you for uniting the forum for even a brief period.

Some of these rumors have been circulating the net the last few days and i have now received photographic evidence confirming it along with a phone call from my local store.

GREATNESS AWAITS!

I don't get where people would put it vertically. Next to the TV? Surely then symmetry is lost.

And if you have a TV stand with shelfy bits underneath surely they aren't high enough to stand this down there?

Vertical would work well for me. I have a large fireplace with two raised plinths either side ( no, I don't live in a mansion, rather a flat. Looked utterly incongruous when I first saw it in the lounge but has grown on me ), t.v goes up on one of the plinths with a small stack of electrical stuff beneath. 360 is already vertical down there so having the PS4 next to it should look pretty pimp.

Plus I was rocking wobblegate before it was even a thing. The stone surface is so uneven that I am a patient master at finding a non-wobble sweet spot.

So, now that the dust's settled.

Whats everybody getting?

Anybody changed their mind on games etc

I'm still locked in for Killzone & Battlefield with the obvious freebies (resogun etc)

Killzone bundle on release & will pick up AC4 to play over xmas.

The rest I will hold back and wait for any offers in the run-up to xmas from the many on-line stores.

Ditto, I think I was into double digit 360s in the first couple of years, no desire to go through that kind of thing ever again.

I only had one fail but i don't know of any launch systems that are still alive.

I do prefer the way heat is extracted on the 360"s" and the xbone, it will be interesting to see what temps the xbone gives.
