PlayStation 4 Console Thread

It's worth noting KZ has a 3minute process on the first boot while it starts copying to hd in the background of whatever it does on first boot. That lack of start up logos was a lot of legal hassle apparently, they had to get permission from legal, Sony, all the firmware/codec owners and such.

I've never understood why we have to know they used Bink video and Havoc physics. It's not like everytime you watch a film you have to get the logo of the software the special effects guys used and the make of hot dogs the catering department supplied.

Can the PS4 output audio via both hdmi and optical simultaneously?

I have my ps3 plugged in to the amp but only use it occasionally. Most times I just use the tv speakers. Up until Sony changing the firmware to allow for both outputs at once it was a right pain to change over.

I've had a look at the online manual and it isn't clear if the ps4 can do this. Anyone seen anything online about it?

Unsurprisngly the companies licensing these middleware would like people to know who made it. Pretty much every first party Saturn and Dreamcast game has the same Softdec logos for example. I'm sure almost every movie released theatrically for the last 30 years has had a Dolby logo before it.

Next gen has gotten rid of startup logos!? Fucking GET IN!

Unfortunately Only KZ as far as I know, and that was because one of their guys went out of his way to make it happen.

Just goes to show, by the power of the neg, you can't ask a simple, honest question in here without feeling the wrath.

I'll see you on the other side guys.

Mark Cerny has mentioned that Knack was made it a very short development cycle, and the way his efforts have been pulled in many directions, I suspect the project was more a proof-of-concept to other developers of what can be achieved with minimal time and resources. In fact, I'd go as far to say that although the Cerny Method can make good games, I suspect it will not always produce great games.

If Mark Cerny dedicated himself fully to a title I suspect it would be much better, but I get the feeling he probably isn't that interested to do so these days.

I've ordered my pS4 purely for a prettier, smoother and more populated BF4 so I am still happy. Roll on the 29th!

I would really love a Wipeout though, I really loved that game. I also remember and massively enjoyed Toshinden. 3D Fighter wow!

Check out the speed! So nice compared to the PS3.

That is so good to see! One of the reasons I find it so much easier to decide to game on my PC as opposed to the PS3 is the load times.. When its GTA in 5 mins or Batman in 5 seconds my stupid impulsive & impatient nature always chooses batman..

The resume feature is also going to ROCK.

Oh yeah, he's obviously had his plate full. And fair play to him, if he's actually managed to switch roles (excuse the analogy) from cleaner to vacuum designer and pulled this off. Don't you think it would have been a given, let alone the icing on the cake, that he could have made sure a game that has his name attached to it was a tour de force of the machine's capabilities rather than the damp squib it's 'apparently' turned out to be? I'm just saying it doesn't fill me with the most confidence at the outset.Anyway, I'm sure it'll turn out to be an amazing console. Just not the best way to kick it off, in my eyes. But, I guess, I'm on my own. Again.I'll be adding you if/when I get this fucker anyway Jim. Destiny awaits.
