PlayStation 4 Console Thread

I want a console of the future to have some sort of anti-dust coating on it. It could play Monty Mole for all I care, but with all the sodding tech I have in my rooms it's a right bugger to clean everything...all the time :(

Ideally, I'd have everything in white and pretend there's no dust around...but I don't really like white.

Hell, this is 1st world trouble gone mad...

So the angular as fuck rumours were true then, it seems.

Yeah, I was hoping this was the year Sony went for a pure game sphere or 100% non-euclidean.

Also the pulsing blue line at the end - was that mock up the other week actually on to something?

Fuck yeah, I will have my Tron lights!

Whodathunkit. I know reactionary facetiousness is the order of the day here, but I do think some people are actually interested in the specifics of the design, several of which are clearly visible.

For me to be facetious the casing would need to be important. What's in the box? Speaks volumes. How you control it? A big deal. The games you'll play on it? Crucial. The casing itself? Well it has a lot of vents, so I guess that should stop it melting.

Based on the obfuscated glamour shots I actually like the design — it'll fit right in with my Define R4 — but it isn't very informative of the machines capabilities or that relevant once its sat on my shelf. Not that I don't appreciate a cool looking console, but as it isn't something I have to hold or even look at that often it ranks near the bottom on my list of concerns.

What a pointless post. My point was that reducing evaluation of the design to 'it's a box', is facetious and annoying. Yeah it's a box, no shit. The PSX was a box. The PS2 was a box. The 360 was a box. Quite different designs, though.

Also no-one said or implied that the design is 'informative of the machines capabilities'.

I guess i'm just saying I find your witless attempt at wit fairly irritating. Thanks for the mind numbingly patronising explanation of why the games on a console and its control method are ultimately far more important than its case design though, I'm far too fucking stupid to work that out for myself, i'm glad you're here to provide such stirring and revelatory insights.

According to Playfront.de Sony India accidentally uploaded a product page for a PS4 with a 250GB HDD costing the equivalent of €400, which is roughly £340. They say the page has since been removed, although it's a bit odd they didn't think to so much as screengrab it.

Putting doubts aside for a moment, such a relatively small HDD would suggest the above is a 'basic' model alongside a more expensive version with, say, 1TB of storage. If Sony do decide to go with two SKUs* I hope the differences are of the "added value" variety, like a larger HDD that can be replaced anyway and a years worth of Plus.

*Hey, it's justified given the context.

Why would Sony India only put up a product page for one model (let's call this one A), if there is another (B) with a larger HDD? It doesn't make much sense.

Also, I'm sure there will be at least one other larger HDD option.

SKU B/SKU B2, where are you?
