PlayStation 4 Console Thread

Mmm. Shinies.

Heh, that's about all I got from it, most of it flew straight over my head :( Interesting watch though, and will probably make more sense to some of our resident brains (who might put it down in layman's terms!). And it did take me a little while to get used to the guy's accent and rhythm of speech.

Cerny/Sony go balls-out on tech specs in this Gamasutra feature.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/191007/inside_the_playstation_4_with_mark_.php

They must be pretty confident they're going to outpower the Xbox? Or they don't care.

I prefer this approach to giving all your chips dodgy names and refusing to put the specs out.

From a sort of layperson's sort of position, there is some really very, very clever stuff in there but the most impressive part of it is that it's all really very simple. Graphics aren't necessarily going to get much more demanding than they are now, as procedural stuff will have to become more common-place to fill lots of gaps, so they've got a perfectly neat solution in there to be working out the procedural stuff without impacting the CPU, which is going to be fairly busy, at all.

I'm impressed.

If they launch worldwide this year, The Evil Within won't be a launch title. Watch_Dogs and AC4 are pretty much a given though. I think Sony Santa Monica's new IP will be their big March release and Uncharted 4 their 2014 Holidays title.

Big PS4 blow-out in GI this month:

Apart from the launch games we already know about, they also reveal 3 indies. One of them apparently a 2D sandbox game from the guy who made Sound Shapes.

Looks lovely.

Sony might not have enough PS4s for everyone when it launches later this year.

Published on May 7, 2013

Sony has already confirmed that the PS4 will be launching at the end of 2013, at least in the US. In fact, Sony has previously revealed that it expects to ship 12-16 million PS4s by the end of the year.

But sources close to the supply chain suggests that this isn't the case and that Sony has yet to submit manufacturing plans.

Digitimes reports that sources close to the upstream suppliers have not yet received shipment instructions, which could result in delays to the mass production of the PS4.

This would mean that Sony would not be able to create enough PS4's to fulfill its expected shipments of 12-16 million.

However Sony originally claimed that it would start shipping the PS4 by June, with mass shipments scheduled for August.

This could even reach a high of 20 million units, suggesting that there could still be leeway with the manufacturing process if it hopes to produce 12-16 million PS4s by the end of the year.

Gee, I wonder what this could mean :hmm:

I know you're only mucking about but can we stop equating homosexuality with inferiority, please.

How do you know he was talking about gays and not women? Women are our inferiors. They know it, we know it. Gays know it.
