PlayStation 4 Console Thread

If you cant play your digital games offline then you haven't activated your console to say it's your primary hardware, if you have issues playing in single player games during network downtime, go to settings and disable network, this will stop the game from trying to connect and allow you to play offline.

To be fair, since the Christmas 2014 debacle, this is the first time I think I have had an outage. And it last one night. It;s not so bad. Not great, but it's not the end of the world. Meant I could make some headway in Splatoon and Wonderful 101

It hits home how much you rely on the service though I think. I just fancied 30 mins on Battlefront but it's useless offline being devoid of a proper single player mode. Last year over Christmas when it happened I was playing Alien Isolation so it didn't really affect me.

I seem to be having issues with constantly replacing the controller charge cable on my ds4. I must have gone through 3 of them in the last 4 months and each time, the pin on the end of the lead that slots into the controller gets bent far too easily so it won't sit flush enough to charge the pad.

Now I'm not exactly mistreating the lead to cause this to keep happening so was wondering if anyone else had an issue with this or do you all just use the wireless chargers? I probably should too but am puzzled as to why this keeps being an issue and why the pins bend so easily. Is it a design fault or am I just being clumsy?

Oh ok sorry for the misunderstanding. Ok must just be me being unlucky with leads then. Yeah there's the Sony official wireless cradle charger which you drop the ds4 pad into and also some cheap third party ones. I used to own a cheap one but sold it as I didn't think I'd use it.

If it keeps happening (and you're just using any old microUSB cable and not buying Sony ones each time) I wonder if the socket on the controller is damaged in some way, and it's then damaging the cables.

That's a possibility, yes. Good point. I have just been using standard microUSB cables so far and it could be that the socket is misaligned and is causing the lead's connector to bend out of shape. I was thinking of picking up a second controller so I could try and compare it.

Its not "wireless". There's a hulking great psu.

You know exactly what I mean - the charging process is wireless. Thanks for your valid contribution.

But the "wireless" chargers still plug into a socket on the pad. They don't bypass it.

Not the one I had didn't. It plugged into the wall, yes, and the pad sat charging on a cradle via a dongle similar to a wireless mouse receiver. It was the HORI one. But this isn't the issue or relevant really.
