PlayStation 4 Console Thread

I think I've solved my discs ejecting. It wasn't static build up on the capacitive buttons, but I tried both turning that screw and ensuring the rubber foot under the button no longer comes into contact. That's a daft design decision right there. I'm actually wondering if it was that, because while it used to live upstairs sat atop a desk, it's now in the TV unit downstairs and runs a little hotter (yeah, I finally hear the fan people complain about).

My day one PS4 was replaced by Sony within a couple of days when I called them with this exact problem. Delivery came in and took my old one, giving me a new one straight away. I have never had that problem with the new one. I would suggest giving them a call, to see what you can get. Also, if you do get in touch with them, could you please ask them how to access power options?

I'm looking for a good headset, ideally one that can be used as a microphone. Are the official Sony 'gold' ones good to buy? Any third party recommendations?

I'd rate the Sony headset as very good for the price. They are wireless, hold a decent charge and have all the controls built in, including a chat/sound mixer. Plus a lot of titles allow you to download a profile tailored for the game.

They are only virtual 7.1 but to be honest I can't tell tell that much difference from the 'true' 5.1 set I had on my 360.

I am not massively savvy about audio but I have had my share of headsets including Turtle Beach and some other cheaper ones. However, the best game audio I have ever heard has come out of the gold PS4 headset. Particularly in relation to the surround sound. I use the bloodborne standard balancing from the official app which is amazing for pinpointing where I sound came from in Destiny PvP. It is quite amazing really. Having said that, you do have to stick a dongle in the PS4, I have always hated they don't just talk via Bluetooth because the PS4 is otherwise so fucking gorgeous.

I'll give that a try if it occurs again, although living in yank land I don't hold much hope.

I might also ask them how to make the power button turn the machine off, rather than drop to standby. My son likes to turn it on, meaning I need to change channel and go fetch a pad to properly turn the thing off again.

You need to discover your power options. There you have to turn off all the settings that allow it to do stuff in standby and the default power action should be off rather than standby.

If only I could get some help getting to that menu. :rolleyes:

PSN says it's down for maintenance at the moment so assuming they're on the fix?

Was saying that when I first got home this evening.

I've given up for today, if its not on tomorrow evening i'm gonna be a bit annoyed. It happens way too frequently with PSN in my opinion. Xbox doesn't seem to have so many issues? (Correct me if i'm wrong)

Perhaps I should go back to PC games, don't get anywhere near as much trouble
