PlayStation 4 Console Thread

The thing about jailbreaking/circumvention of the DRM is that before there was the legitimacy of homebrew to justify it, now even the homebrew dev scene can't be arsed to create the foundations necessary to allow homebrew software dev on the current consoles. See the Wii U for an example, hacked almost immediately but not released due to lack of homebrew dev interest, not paid enough attention to the 3DS one to know if that has resulted in much more than piracy.

Who needs the platform holder to offer half-hearted official BC?, when some talented people can do it better, without all that annoying legal red tape holding back progress. Ironically we can thank Microsoft who in turn can probably thank AMD for kickstarting the movement to lower level graphics APIs on the PC, finally a real reason to upgrade to Windows 10 and DX12:

Well indeed. But I'm continuing to access what I have bought... don't really want to buy them again well not unless they are enhanced in some way.

I also bought some VC games on the Wii too... although can't seem to play those on the WiiU.

Why not? Did you not do the system transfer?

I had exactly the same thoughts as you a few days ago (No. 26)

Fantavision is the only PS2 launch game I would play again today, therefore it has to be the best launch game :)

FantaVision is coming to PlayStation 4 next Tuesday, according to the PlayStation Blogcast.

The fireworks game was initially conceived as a tech demo to showcase the power of the PlayStation 2 before later being converted into a retail game to launch alongside the system.
The gameplay involves stringing together a series of identically-colored flares as they are shot into the air and then detonating them to create pretty pyrotechnic explosions and boost your score.
And as if a game about setting off fireworks wasn't strange enough, Sony, for some reason, decided to punctuate the core experience with bizarre footage of children, families, and other people.
While it may no longer be the technical showpiece it was when it originally released 15 years ago, FantaVision is, at the very least, an interesting little footnote in the annals PlayStation history.

Is it possible to accidentally eject a disc from holding down a button on the pad? Lad is playing The Crew when suddenly the disc ejects. It wouldn't let me put it back in, the eject mechanism kept going, if that makes sense.

Machine is about 18 months old, if that's an issue.

Ejecting discs is a sign of it may be on the way out, no you can't do it from a pad. 18 months too..you may be about to embark on my journey.

My hd is almost full so can't download the Driveclub update. Is this the one people have used -

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2489935.htm

I put that in my PS4 a few weeks back and am pleased with it.

Please note that it might beep every so often (mine does & so does another person that I know who fitted it)....

https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/3akxqh/single_beeping_noise_coming_from_ps4_occasionally/

This issue doesn't seem to be causing any problems though so I'm not overly worried about it.

Also Argos is now selling the newer case (as shown in the picture) which some people have said is more difficult to open but I found it pretty easy tbh.

Plus having a spare 500gb (the old PS4 drive) external is very handy.

Its not a sign that its on the way out but a design flaw, youtube the solution - turning a screw, I don't know anyone in real life with a PS4 that has not had this issue and we have all solved it easily!

Anyone got PS4 party chat working while Streaming to a PSTV?

Google search seems to suggest setting up the chat from the PSTV and then streaming but then you need a bluetooth headset if you want any sort of connectivity to the PSTV and my current set for some reason aren't recognised.

I was hoping plugging some headphones into a DS4 and pairing it with the PSTV would be enough.
