PlayStation 4 Console Thread

There must be some threshold for which stuff it updates. I haven't used YouTube for ages, but that suddenly updated the other night. Conversely, I stopped getting Planetside updates in the last few weeks, so that must be inactive (haven't played it for ages).

To be honest, it would be useful to have an option to keep everything up to date for things I haven installed, given they're installed for a reason.

Next topic!

Some very recent PS4 titles announced.

Stories: The Hidden Path by Spearhead Games. It's an action-RPG with a choose-your-own-adventure vibe to it. Not sure how it will work in practice, but the style is fitting of the title.

PS4 Exclusive

Read Only Memories is a Cyperpunk adventure game much like Snatcher or Policenauts, and not much else given how few visual novels have taken the same approach to storytelling as these Kojima classics. I'm looking forward to this, a lot.

Playstation Console Exclusive

Jenny LeClue is almost an amalgamation of the two games above - exceedingly light-hearted, but detective in nature. The game is made by a small group of artists using Unity, which probably explains the strong visual style and direction.

Playstation Console Exclusive

Indivisible is currently being Kickstarted on Indiegogo and is being made by Lab Zero - creators of Skullgirls. The game is very much inspired by Valkyrie Profile and 2D action adventure games. Best of all, there is a demo you can download right now on your PS4 to see if it's something you might enjoy and want to help fund.

They were struggling to meet the target of $1.5m, but its looking increasingly likely they'll just about make it

Is Day of the Tentacle out soon?

Yeah, I believe it was shown off at a recent PAX - I wouldn't be surprised to see it released during the PSX conference - at the very least I'd expect a firm release date then! As somebody who missed out on pretty much all the classic Lucasarts point and clicks (caught up in recent years on Indy, Monkey Island & Loom), I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, I'd much rather this ultra slow 10GB patch had downloaded much in advance of tonight. I thought that was the point myself!!

I believe it only updates the last n recently used apps, so you don't burn through your / their bandwidth updating stuff you're not likely to play again any time soon.

I really hope this is the last gen of different consoles :) I hope MS and Sony get together shake hands and make a console box together and split the profits. :)

No you don't.

Do you not remember what either Sony or MS have been like when they've felt like they're on top? 2nd hand games would instantly not exist, your console would have to be on the internet every second of every play session. There would certainly be no Ps Plus or Games on Gold...

They should add a setting to toggle recent/all. I don't have a download cap so it's really annoying to find a large patch hasn't auto-installed.
