The same reason people have extra marital affairs.

Think of the Xbone as a steady, faithful, yet rather unexciting partner. Sure they will do the washing and make sure your dinner is on the table, but it's all a bit boring, you're used to what your partner can deliver now, and you know it's not going to get any better. Sure, they may buy a new outfit, they may even get their hair down, but fundamentally, they are the same person you fell out of live with a while ago.

Across the street is where PS4 lives. And though you know you shouldn't it is someone you just can't take your eyes off. They are just more sexy in every conceivable way. They way they move, the way they look, they are exicting, you feel that when they look at you, you are the only thing that matters.

Maybe one day you'll do something about it, maybe one day you'll be brave enough to take the plunge. But for now you torture yourself with Plain old bone, and occasionally peep through the curtains , masturbating furiously whilst hot salty tears burn your cheeks with shame.

And I guess WiiU owners are married to an older woman who doesn't do a whole lot, but occasionally, once in a blue moon, when the mood takes her, she shows that she's still a force to be reckoned with and the sex is phenomenal. This love affair lasts a couple of weeks then settles back down into mundanity until the next time the mood takes her.

Pete Brant shopping last week when he passed the "just more sexy in every conceivable way" playstation stand and couldn't stop himself.

Anyone remember the rllmuk "Golden Years"? back around 2007/2008 when the Playstation 3 was floundering under the gross mismanagement of Phil Harrison and the awful technical decisions from the Ken Kutaragi led tech team?

We had the pleasure of putting up with the PR spin nonsense posts of Soong and the comedy trolling from Chase.

Seems like history does repeat itself.

Are you actually online? If they'd revoked licenses from people for foreign bought titles there'd be a small meltdown going on just now.

Have you tried the ps4 "solves everything" option of rebuilding the mystery database?

Tried this today and no joy I'm afraid. Now this is starting to bug me.

In addition it seems I have activate/de-activate my ps4 under my uk account. If i switch to my us account and try to activate here it so its already activated even though I'm only after de-activated it.

Restoring licences doesn't work either.

No idea what to try now to be honest. Can someone help? :{

"Overall impressions are positive - there's little that can be done to improve the quality of 2D assets, but the improvements to the 3D side of things are welcome."

"The emulator is clearly running these games more smoothly, with Jedi Starfighter hitting 60fps while the game running on PS2 hardware has nothing like that level of output"

Sounds good to me. If this is some official PS2 emulator by Sony, then I look forward to an official announcement soon.

If backwards compatible PS2 games are announced, I suspect it will be the same as when PS1 games where announced on PSVita.

PS3 through PSNow is different I suspect because each user using the service has an impact on server usage, and therefore there is always some cost there.

I know what you're saying (probably greater than a decade, really), but some 360 games are almost that old.

Anyway, if they've also gone to the effort, and think there's money to be made, I think this adds credence to the the fact that people want backwards compatibility.

Good news... wonder if it will ultimately let you play PS2 discs on the PS4 via digital download authenticating with the disk (like the Xbox One BC). I have an ageing PS2 with around 60 games ... be nice to know I could keep playing then (potentially at higher res) on a new Sony console.

I've been experimenting recently with a PS2 emulator on the PC and its pretty good. Nice to know I could continue to play these in future and there are options if I cannot get the original hardware. It was also weird playing a PS2 game with a 360 pad. :)

In other news noticed Beyond Two Souls remaster is out soon.

I meant it's not exactly launching with a fanfare and a great selection of titles to choose from - the ps2 library is insane.

Yeah. It's not been officially announced though and these are only available through the ridiculous star wars hardware bundle.

It's a bit strange that this emulator obviously now exists through these games so you have to assume an announcement at Playstation Experience, and it does seem likely that it's a Sony developed emulator. All very back to front really. There was a list of four ESRB-rated PS2 games a while ago, and I suspect that those (and hopefully other PS2 classics already released) will make up the official launch.

Sounds good to me.I don't think it's especially unreasonable that they don't let you play disks from games released a decade ago, especially since there may be practical reasons that they can't easily do it.

Why? Is this more bending over to excuse Sony again?

What sort of practical reasons?

Possibly related to the XB1 needing to download 360 games, rather than playing them directly off the disc.

Unless it's technically difficult, I don't see the harm in letting me use my discs. From an XB1 perspective, I'm already thinking of buying certain titles when they become available, and that's just come about from the general interest BC there has generated.

Unless Sony are going to put up PS2 games for a couple of bucks or something, which would make finding discs a bit moot.

okami was on ps+ back in the day. If they're smart (nope, lol!) they'll add them to my ps4 library and send me on my way

Apparently Okami HD is 4k downsampled on PS3 so if they want to wow us they could release the 4K version on PS4.

Sounds good to me.

There's no excuse not to match Microsoft's efforts, they should be trying to better them though.

Aren't the Blu-Ray disk drives in the current consoles really slow? Will the Blu-Ray drives even be able to read the copy-protected sectors used to detect legit PS2 disks? And aren't there rights issues involved with ripping the disks, hence why the 360 needs approval from publishers etc?

But, basically, it comes down to me really not giving a shit, and I don't think it's too unreasonable to not support software from over a decade ago, and I don't mind them wanting to make a few quid out of it. I mean, few people were even aware the PS3 could play PS1 disks. That said, I never owned a PS2 (the PS2/PS3/Wii U are the only major consoles I've never owned), so it doesn't impact me. I won't get upset if they don't support my many, many PSX disks either, though.

I'd be more than happy enough when they let me buy the the odd PSX/PS2 title from PSN. I regard it as a nice bit of bonus functionality. But, hey, feel free to feel different.

I think they'll be taking the piss if they're expecting you repurchase BC titles bought for PS3/Vita, though!

There's no excuse not to match Microsoft's efforts, they should be trying to better them though.

Well, the Xbone can't play original Xbox titles, can it? It's a bit of a shame, they already have an emulator written, and I never did get around to playing Voodoo Vince or Crimson Skies.
