I'm not convinced about Sony actually investing in the platform, but I guess we'll see. It's the kind of back to grass roots stuff businesses aren't keen on paying for.

With PS+ game saves is it only the primary account saves that are uploaded to the cloud or all accounts on the console?

Really? I always assumed they'd all be cloud saved like on the bone.

I guess when you swap hard drives the backup hdd is the option to go for to preserve all the save files.

It's easier to back up via USB but AFAIK saves are tied to accounts and it only interfaces with the one subscribed.

Ok will plug in a flash drive for the boys to backup their gamesaves. Shame Sony could not use the 10GB on the primary account spread out on all accounts on the console.

I'm finally getting around to upgrading my hdd. I need a pen drive though right? For the OS when the new drive's in?

I seem to recall people having issues with the PS4 not recognising some, is there a particular one I should look for as I'll be buying one for this so don't want to buy one that doesn't work!

I think it needs to be formatted as FAT 32 and minimum 2gb IIRC.

exFAT works as well, just in case you're offered that.

Possibly silly question - I've just ordered the wireless headset and the controller charging dock (my poor bank account).

Does anyone know if they plug into the PS4 or the mains? I might need a bigger multipoint for the plugs.

Not on the UK storefront yet but for years now someone's been pumping out scores of utterly dreadful PS3 ones for a pound or more with the most ball-shrivellingly cringeworthy slogans on them. They're brilliant and I'm glad they're finally coming to current gen.

If nothing else I'm glad to see Sony taking small steps to add things to their service although it's unlikely they'll ever release an avatar fit to replace my current one.

Top tip: Don't pay for avatars like some chump. You can change your profile pic to anything you like through the Playstation app on your phone. Just open the app, click on your image in the top right, and select Profile>Edit Profile>Change Profile Picture. This lets you use anything that you have stored as a JPEG. Like mine:

I think only your friends can see that profile picture as your avatar though. But that's probably fine.

Piece of cake. I'm a proper luddite and it took me 15 minuts, ten of which was getting the portable HDD open.

I have never built a pc or anything close before in my life so unscrewing and removing parts of my ps4 worried me a bit. But it was extremely straight forward as markh says getting the new drive out of the caddy was the only fiddly bit. Especially as seagate seem to have changed the plastic casing. If you have an external hdd you back up all your data and restore on the new drive. No harder than restoring a new iphone.
