PlayStation 4 Console Thread

To be honest I didn't think Jon's original post was an issue. But both single-format threads are pretty bad and he's kidding himself if he thinks that the denizens of the Xbox thread would react in a calm and rational manner to someone suggesting buying an opposing device. We're talking about a thread in which if people who actually own an Xbox One dare to venture a middle criticism they're negged to oblivion. If someone wandered in and said to buy a PS4 then Boozy would wear out his copy of of Roger's Profanisauriaus, Wah Wah would hammer the report button until his keyboard broke, Revival would quit and re-join the forum about three times and I'm sure Jon himself would act in the reasonable and considerate way for which he's renowned.

Maybe you're right, maybe you're not, but one thing we can now be certain of is that the people who consider this thread theirs are an extremely odd bunch. I've been told I'm on commission, I've been told I should have posted my comment in some other thread, I've been told I'm in love with my Xbox and I've been negged 40 times so far! Absolutely bonkers and a little bit frightening that 40 people are still taking 'console warz' so seriously.

All the current consoles are pretty amazing in theirs own ways, so just relax a bit and take a deep breath. I don't think me suggesting someone picks up an Xbox instead of a PS4 will signal the death knell for your console. Everything will still be ok.

Alternatively you come across as a bit of a tit, and this is from someone who has a Bone and not a PS4. And I didn't neg you.

@ Jon

I don't think anyone thinks this thread is theirs, it's more a case of someone posting about one thing and someone else saying they should get another which comes across weird to some. Ditto people saying 'buy a PC' or when someone is asking about android and someone says 'get an iPhone'

And now I'm getting called a tit! Amazing!

Anyway Krypt, it was a pretty innocent comment that I made originally, that was directed specifically at Idiwa. Perhaps I should have done it by pm so as not to anger the folk in here. So apologies dudes, I didn't mean to upset anyone.

Stanley - what?

Sean - obv

Just the whole thing was all. Jon stop playing the victim now will you. You wouldn't go up to someone in a bar buying a Guinness and tell them to buy a a Stella instead, and how you used to enjoy drinking Stella with them. Because it's a bit mad.

Ok - not trying to start an argument.

I'm looking to play something action/adventure, with a good combination of action, gameplay, characters and story. (Something single player to sit alongside MP Destiny and Diablo). Last SP game was MGSV which I really enjoyed but in the end lost interest in due to unengaging storyline and structure in the second chapter.

My two options are TLOU or Uncharted collection (I've never played either).

Thoughts?

Obviously neither would be my preference (and it's unfortunate that you're limited to two games by the same developer, as obviously that'll limit the range of possibilities), but if you have to pick between the two The Last of Us edges it. It has even more interminable 'interactive' cut-scenes, but the actual gameplay is more enjoyable than in the Uncharteds.

The Last of Us is an incredible journey through an amazingly well realised world. It's flavour of the month on here to bash it but I think it's a phenomenal game and I have the best taste in games according to me.

Cheers for thoughts.Is it...fun though?

It looks a bit grim/depressing in terms of subject matter is all ('whaaaaaaa my daughter died due to killer mushrooms. now I've taken on a surrogate I will protect from fungi and the most evil creature in the world....man'...I've not really investigated the game if it's not obvious ;)), while Uncharted looks a bit more rompy fun.

Then again all of you said the same thing. That has to mean something.

Buy Uncharted it's like Indiana Jones....plus Drake is dreamy.

This. Don't listen to Wiper, he hates games.

1. Some games.

2. So, you're saying Hexx shouldn't listen to me... when I recommended The Last of Us out of the choices listed? Well, if you really think Hexx should play Uncharted instead I guess that's fine :P

Borderlands?

I'm in the 'not TLOU' camp, thought it was dull, and is therefore hugely overrated.

Uncharted 2 was good fun though. 1 a bit less so.

What about Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor; that is also supposed to be very good. I can't comment personally, as I've not played it.

TLoU is a pretty bleak game, the story line is very very good though. I also enjoyed the Uncharted games and am looking forward to seeing what BluePoint have done to improve it visually :eyebrows:

You've heard of damning with faint praise right? You didn't even reach that.

I just don't know with Wiper. Some of the stuff he posts in Retro is gold.....but he doesn't like Half Life 2. Gah. So confused.

What the hell does he like? He seems to bash everything that's popular. Half Life 2 is a fantastic game.

Well, it's probably fair to assume that I don't mind these games.

And it's not that I dislike games for being popular (cf. a good portion of the games in my top 20), but that I try to play pretty much every major game around, not just games I expect to enjoy, so I'm more likely than most to play games I dislike. On top of that, I don't see much point in dogpiling a game that is widely disliked, since I'm unlikely to have anything to add, but if I find myself going against the prevailing opinion I will step in to provide that alternate perspective.

Fair one. There some great games in that list of yours.

Just been hearing about some updates in the Firmware 3.00 update, code name Kenshin. Some of these may not make it to the final release but, among other things, there's streaming to You Tube, 10secs clips to Twitter and by far the best, an increase from 1gb to 10gb of cloud storage space.
