PlayStation 4 Console Thread

Battlefield 4 is around a tenner, does that still have a large online userbase and how noob friendly would it be now?

BF4 is still busy, especially the base game. It's easily one of the best online shooters for the system, even more so now it's all patched up and running great. A fair few people on here are playing it still. You can ease yourself in easily on BF4, getting used to the scale and classes, modes and maps etc, or ask in the thread and I'm sure some of us can help you out :)

TL:DR is uploaded to the cloud saved data saved indefinitely, and can I download it locally?

I lost all my The Witcher 3 progress. Finished the game's story many weeks ago and have not played it since. Quite recently, I purged the PS4's HDD and removed gigabytes of data (saved games, movies and whatnot). I deleted all my The Witcher 3 saved games bar one, the one with the latest time and date. Just now I booted up the game and noticed I am right at the beginning. Turns out, I started the game again on a higher difficulty, got bored with it and forgot about it. Literally.

edit: It is. But I forgot I also purged the online storage. No old The Witcher 3 saves. Well, that goes the reason to look forward to the DLC I already paid for. Cunting fuck.

Cheers!

Can the file be archived and downloaded from twitch or is that streamed only do you know??

You can export it to Youtube and download it from there. There is a tool somewhere to get it direct from Twitch but I don't think that works any more. Perhaps a generic "video grabber" will work?

You'd think a limited edition Star Wars PS4 would be highly desirable...

But it's not a patch on the design of the Star Wars 360. Despite what they say, I'm not so sure the Force is strong with Playstation.

Sure, but Super Star Wars all tarted up being released alongside it is.

Choosing Racer Revenge over the original is a shame though, and the other two games are dogshit. Give us TIE Fighter instead of Starfighter and Republic Commando instead of Bounty Hunter, you buggers!

Yep, there's a whole host of great Star Wars games to take advantage of, so it's a crying shame they've opted for a bunch of PS2 games ranging from mediocre to shit. Though I guess the original platform is likely to be the reason for those three choices over superior, non-Sony-hardware-oriented games.

Aside from Super Star Wars, which presumably is making the jump because sticking it into an emulator and adding a filter is an easy few minutes of work.

Yeah, as I said on Eurogamer I think this one was designed at quarter to five on a Friday. It's so damn lazy. Amusingly a guy on Neogaf knocked out two alternate designs which were superior, over the people who are, you know, actually paid to come up with this stuff.

I don't think we've got a thread for Dreams yet? We should!

Alex from Media Molecule did a SIGGRAPH talk recently about the rendering methods used - I don't understand it but I think it doesn't use polygons at all. Some images from the presentation below, which look so abstract and incredible:

Learning from Failure: a Survey of Promising, Unconventional and Mostly Abandoned Renderers for ‘Dreams PS4’, a Geometrically Dense, Painterly UGC Game
