I didn't even entertain that idea as I assumed there's no way that's work.

Thanks!

Failing that just save the screenshots from your twitter feed, sorry I had to mute you yesterday I did not want to see or read anything about everybody's gone to rapture.

Weird that I have 19 Wii U games, a few downloaded titles and my old Wii Virtual Console collection for my Wii U Premium and still no need to buy an external hard drive for it. Well, not that weird. It's the way consoles were before this gen.

How did Sony and Microsoft let it come to this?

Didn't see the Firmware 3.00 list posted anywhere?!

I like the Communities idea and if I've read it correctly, looks like we might finally have the 'friends coming online' notification with this addition perhaps?

- Settings: [Community], [Requests to Watch Gameplay], [Events] and [Current Song] have been added to (Settings) > [Notifications] > [Display Pop-Up Notifications]

PlayStation 4 is getting a new firmware soon. Firmware 3.00 has been in testing for a bit now. It’s feature-heavy, unlike most of the recent updates to the console. The full list changes and additions were first published on Pocket News in Japanese, before Reddit user ThaTiemsz posted the full rundown in English.

Find the complete list below:

Main features

  • (Events) has been added to the function items. All events associated with PlayStation are now brought together, enabling you to discover, participate in and watch these events in a centralised area
  • (Communities) has been added to (Friends). (Communities) is a feature that enables you to find players who have similar tastes and interests. You can join an existing community or create your own community. You can also play games, join parties or talk about shared interests with members in the community
  • You can now go to (Now Playing) to see what games or parties members of the community are enjoying right now. You can also easily start a game, join a party or send a request to watch a member’s gameplay in (Now Playing). You can access (Now Playing) from What’s New, (Friends), (Communities), the message screen in (Messages) or Profile
  • The layout of the message screen in (Messages) has been improved. From the message screen, you can now select (Now Playing) or easily start a party. You can also add your favourite groups to [Favourite Groups] in (Friends)
  • You can now broadcast your gameplay on YouTube
  • You can now upload video clips to Twitter (10-second limitation)

Other features

-Share

  • The layout of (Live from PlayStation) has been improved. In addition to broadcasts, you can now view video clips and screenshots

-Settings

  • You can now change the speed for automatic text scrolling in (Settings) > [Accessibility] > [Auto-Scroll Speed]
  • [Community], [Requests to Watch Gameplay], [Events] and [Current Song] have been added to (Settings) > [Notifications] > [Display Pop-Up Notifications]

-Other

  • You can now post your comments for activity feeds in What’s New
  • You can now enjoy fun conversations with your Friends using (Stickers) in (Messages). (PlayStation®Plus) has been added to the function items. You can now see all of your PlayStation®Plus benefits, such as free monthly games, exclusive discounts, news and more, in one place
  • Accessibility features are now available when playing content from Blu-ray Discs™ or DVDs. Application of these features has also been expanded. You can now restrict the use of games while looking at age level information and rating icons
  • You can now create a sub account for a minor by selecting [New User] in the screen for selecting a user
  • You can now adjust settings for Web filtering services from (Settings) > [Parental Controls]. You can use the service to block objectionable websites from being displayed in the Internet Browser. (Additional fees may apply for use of the service.)

The YouTube streaming feature is particularly interesting. The company is getting ready to launch its own game streaming service later this summer, and the timing could not be a coincidence.

On the other hand, my Wii U basic needs a hard drive to hold any downloaded titles, purely thanks to the ridiculously huge patches for Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros and Hyrule Warriors.

Thanks for the reply. Is it worth trying to 'clean' the vents at all? Or is it just dusting the top etc sufficient?

I got fed up with the noise and took the bottom casing off of my PS4 a few days ago to have a look at what could be done - So much dust had accumulated in there! Cleared as much as I could without having to remove anything internal, popped the case back on and now it's SO much better. The Witcher 3 now runs far quieter than Peggle 2 did pre-clean.

Tempted to give this a go also, Is is just screws to pop the casing off?

Yep. Four (torx t-8 security) screws on the back (two of the stickers have the usual warranty warning on them, two are blank), ease it off there you go. There are a couple of cables you'll want to be careful with when cleaning, but that's it.

Thanks I will give it a go, my PS4 is now nearly two years old so out of warranty.

PS4 hasn't been out two years yet, you still have a 2 year EU warranty.

Close enough, I've not had any issues with the console mind. I just like the idea of getting rid of any built up dust.

I bought my ps4 in January 2014 and my controller R2 trigger has broken through normal use.

What's the chances of getting it replaced under warranty.

Depends who you brought it from. Amazon have been good to me.

I've an external HD for each of my Wii and Wii U.

Amazon!

They are pretty good, sent me out a replacement & told me to post the damaged controller back to them.

I didn't spoil anything, promise. I took a LOT more shots than those I posted :)

That's ok I did not want to take the risk on seeing anything. I unmuted you this morning :)

Discovered an interesting bug in the latest firmware. If you boot the console from rest mode by ejecting the disc. It will no longer read discs and won't shut down properly afterwards. It's worth noting I have multiple accounts as well which maybe a contributing factor.

If you are having this issue then it's not a dodgy drive it's just an easily avoided firmware fault.

Bless you my child! This happened me just yesterday and I did indeed think my drive was on the way out!

Would something like this be suitable for removing the screws? Though the website doesn't stipulate the exact sizes??

Anyone got toy commander? It looks good on the trailer but no insight into what style it is. It also has he man in it!

Toy Soldiers War Chest

Gameplay video

Is it not a tower defence type game?
