Sorry if already mentioned/ Has anyone had any issues with controllers not charging? I actually bought a new controller assuming my first was faulty but now they both charge strangely, seemingly at random whenever connected and the console is on. Is this a PS4 issue? I've tried different cables and both ports.

Loads of leads won't charge a ps4 pad when it's off - given its a common connection we have dozens of leads but only one of them will charge the pad when the pad is off, it's very odd!

PS4 arrived back from GAME this morning. Warranty stickers were still in place, so I don't think it's even been opened up. Gave it a quick try and it was still the same.

I traded it and a bunch of games in today, and picked up one of the new models with the improved internals and matte HDD cover. £289.99 with God of War III remaster and The Order: 1886.

I'll be putting my 2TB hard drive in there after work. Hopefully this machine will be a bit quieter!

Can you straight swap a HDD? I'll be surprised if there isn't a checksum or such like to stop you just plugging in the HDD from the old PS4 to the new one. I suspect you may have to back it up and restore

I'm going to redownload everything. I don't think you can just swap them over. I'm putting it in as a fresh drive and firmware on USB stick. Not bothered by that, should be done overnight as long as PSN doesn't have any issues.

Account payment issues have been escalated to head office, as even after 72 hours its not been cleared, and as Paypal has nothing to do with the problem, I'll miss out on the deal as Sony has no time frame for when it will be solved (the customer support guy did say I could buy voucher codes from amazon etc... ). There is nothing wrong with my Paypal account or my credit card and Sony themselves dont even know why I've been blocked. Amazing.

When you say remove the account, what do you mean? I've removed my payment details a few times to no effect, so if what you did works for me I'm all ears.

Edit: Tried it, did nothing. Still cant add funds or buy anything. Its an issue on Sony's side, so I can do nothing but wait till Friday it seems.

Mine charges when connected to my PS4, my PS3, or a Samsung phone charger. If does not charge when connected to my iPad charger, my iPhone charger, a different Samsung phone charger, two generic USB chargers, my external USB battery, my MacBook, my iMac, my MacBook Pro, my PC at work, my 360, my Wii U, my TV, the PSU for my Raspberry Pi or my Sky HD box.

Did the controller come with a cable? I mean, you say you used different cables, but they may not necessarily be capable of charging a controller, even if they charge other things, was his point. I guess.

Had a really weird issue earlier. Turned mine on with the pad, and a screen just came up saying "Welcome to PlayStation©, press the PS button to continue." Neither of my pads would do anything, even though they could turn the machine on and even if connected with a cable. Took a full unplugging from the mains to rectify the situation. Very odd.

Tried that, it had no effect. I have to wait for an email from Sony before I can use my Paypal/credit card now for adding funds to wallet or using the store. I've lost out on the Paypal deal as I seriously doubt head office will sort it out before midnight Friday.

I set up my new PS4 last night, installed the 2TB hard drive and set the downloads going. It's been in rest mode all night and is currently at 665.3GB with more to go!

This will be the last you hear of me complaining about my noisy PS4, because this new one is so quiet. It's been downloading all night, still downloading now, not had a break. I have just tried the usual suspects: The Last of Us Remastered, Diablo III, Rocket League and others which used to send my PS4 crazy loud. Quiet with each of them, I'm so happy. Even though I am out of pocket.

The revision PS4 has a far less intrusive light along the top now as well, it is only bright for few centimeters instead of going along most of the top of the console. It also has physical power and eject buttons, which I prefer to touch sensitive ones. Whilst swapping the hard drives over I noticed it looks a bit different, the screw for the HDD is in a different place for one. Liking the all-matte finish, too.

Just got myself PS4, should be here tomorrow. Excited!

Bought Bloodborne along it as well getting 3 month plus, and two games (Last of Us Remastered & Drive Club) for free. Apparently it'll be new model too, which is nice. £319 in total over at Shopto

Think I'll be getting Witcher 3 on it but going to be strict on myself. Finish a game before I even think of buying another one on it... going to have try that.

Edit: Bah, I'll be getting it on Monday. Kind of expected that, was bought on Shopto at last night (at like 9pm) and it was picked up by DPD and said "Next business day". Oh well...

Recently my PS4 seems to shit itself when it's in rest mode and I remove the disc.

Let's say I finish playing destiny and put it into rest mode, then I come to play a different game or watch a DVD, I'll hit the eject button to turn the PS4 on and put the new disc in.

By the time the dash loads up it says either the DVD is unreadable or the wrong disc is inserted if its a game.

Any ideas?

Have you tried turning it on first and then ejecting the disc, rather than how you have described it?

I get the same. If I then shut it down it takes ages and it does the three beeps indicating a problem. It's fine when I turn it on again though. Like you say, it seems rest mode and the drive don't work well together at the moment.

Yeah this. When it happens my PS4 totally screws up and requires me to pull the power cord; I can't load any apps or other games and it all just seems to hang.

Couple of drawbacks you should be prepared for - once you've got a bunch of titles and apps the XMB gets really messy and you still can't organise it properly. Implementation of cloud saves on the XB1 is way better than on the PS4, and a guest user can't go online without creating a PSN account.

The party system is better on the PS4 though.

So i put my launch PS4 (no issues) into my new Ikea tv unit and yep after an hour it sounded like I had to pop the tires and light the fires as the fucking thing nearly took off.

Gave it a bloody good clean and tried to give it more venting by pulling it right forward, it's helped but still after a while gets really loud.

Another good reason to game through headphones, though.

I dunno about that. It's much more focused on the stuff you want. (well I want) The problem with XMB is that Games have the same prominence as evreything else - Nothing takes precedence. Whereas with PS4, games are the focus and rightly so.

I like that it has my most recently used stuff to one end. That makes sense. Other than that, it's not brilliant.
