Nintendo 3DS

So, I'm wanting to transfer my all my 3DS stuff onto my Majoras Mask new XL.

I've done a transfer before and it was simple but things are a little different this time.

Current 3DS has a 64GB card in it and I've gone and got one for the new one too. Do I just pop that in there (I guess I need to format it to FAT32 first yes?) and then do the transfer (happy to leave it running over wifi through the night)? I don't mind doing that but how the heck does the new one then know to let me re download MM when it's never been on my account or anything?

Pretty sure I'm being thick as and missing something obvious but the guides that I've seen don't seem to mention transferring and merging my data / games to a new machine that's got a game pre installed on it.

Anyone?

It looks like the Micro SD card I'm trying to use is indeed faulty as I keep getting copy errors while trying to transfer/merge the 3DS data. I'll be taking it back tomorrow & getting another.

I hope I can sort this out soon, as I won't be playing Majora's Mask or anything else on my lovely new 3DS until I do.

Hey chaps,

Just jumped on the 3ds bandwagon.

Recommend a quick list of decent games for me?

Legend of Zelda series (Ocarina of Time, A Link Between Worlds, Majora's Mask)

Persona Q

Bravely Default

Fire Emblem Awakening

Luigi's Mansion 2

Kirby's Triple Deluxe

Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby (or X & Y)

Super Mario 3D Land

StreetPass Mansion

(The Monster Hunter series is also highly regarded, although I haven't played the 3DS version.)

Honestly, none better than the Sega 3rd Classics version of Fantasy Zone. That 3D Classics series is well worth a look in general, actually. The Vita's really the handheld machine of choice for shmups I'm afraid, what with Resogun and Velocity on the system.

Also, not even slightly a shmup, but Phoenix Wright is very good (and the original trilogy amazing if you you've not played them before), well worth getting off the eshop.

Got my nu-3ds and a 64gig card. Just following Dekay's guide. It's worked before and I like the new update. Makes it even easier. Dude is so pro.

It reckons about an hour to copy all the data on my PC though. It was a 32gig card and I had quite a lot on it :)

I popped into Grangier games this morning to trade in a load of old shit. Ended up with 181 quid in credit. I got 70 quid of PSN vouchers, 100 quid of eshop ones and a Yoshi amiibo

Today is a good day

While trying to follow deKay's guide, I got some error messages telling me files could not be copied to the Micro SD Card. As I didn't get this message when I copied the files from the original SD card I think this means the Micro SD card is faulty, or at least I hope that's it & its not something wrong with either my PC (its pretty old) or the SD Adapter (the fit to the Micro SD card seems pretty loose).

The SNES colour buttons are gorgeous  I've only gone through the initial set up of the console but it is clearly a massive upgrade from the original 3DS launch model in every way.

Anyone played Streets of Rage? I hear the classic Sega 3D games are spot on but not really seen this mentioned.

I wear glasses and mine seems fine. Had a classic moment when I started shovel knight and it took a second to lock in my face where the 3d was weird but after that it worked perfectly.

If I was to pick up 3DS today, never having owned one, what games are considered essential?

Legend of Zelda series (Ocarina of Time, A Link Between Worlds, Majora's Mask)

Persona Q

Bravely Default

Fire Emblem Awakening

Luigi's Mansion 2

Kirby's Triple Deluxe

Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby (or X & Y)

Super Mario 3D Land

StreetPass Mansion

(The Monster Hunter series is also highly regarded, although I haven't played the 3DS version.)

I'd also add Mario Kart 7 and Animal Crossing New Leaf to the list, but only if you like the Mario Kart and Animal Crossing series.
