What's all this about using the speaker when out in public, even on a bus? Shocking behaviour! I bet you use it to play tinny MP3s of the latest pop hits as well.

I only have the sound on when the bus is empty, which it is most days. I'm not some sort of cunt.

Maybe this should transition to the "What's Wrong With Nintendo" thread, but....

We have:

- Mario Tennis: not very good, decidedly average tennis game

- Mario Golf: not very good, decidedly average golf game

- Yoshi's New Island: not very good according to forum/reviews

- New Super Mario Bros 2: (according to some) not very good, decidedly average Mario game

So what's going on with Nintendo's own franchise developments?

Training those new interns how to make the has-been franchises rather then to use their own creativity.

I posted this in the eShop thread by mistake - I'm reposting it here incase anyone else has any advice :)

Has anyone owned/used both the black interior and white interior versions of the 3DS XL? I'm considering buying the white one because it looks nice and the plastic on the black ones looks a bit cheap - but I've never owned a white handheld and I wondered if in use the screens look better/appear bigger with the black surround? I thought maybe the white would draw the eye and the black would fade into the background?

Got myself an original 3DS and I love it. Feels like a nice piece of kit than the XL that my boys have, and the screens are super crisp and sharp. Wish the 3D light wasn't on all the time though, as I can't see the 3D so it's always switched off. I thought the size of the screens would annoy me but they are perfect for a handheld and the machine is ultra portable.

Having owned one at launch, and then an XL, then being without one for 12 months, I much prefer the form factor of the original. It's a great little machine. Spent some cash on 3DS download games, and been loving them. Mario v DK is great, Pocket football is massively confusing, but looks like a time sink, and firing up Link's Awakening took me back many many years

Unless he's on some whizzy electric bus (and probably even then - this came from complaints that the speaker is too quiet!) I very much doubt the driver can hear it at all. It's still WRONG in principle of course.

Having not owned a portable for over a year, I'm just seeing how much I was missing. Been picking up some bits that I always meant to play, like May's Mysteries and Rhythm Thief, and they are blinding. DK Country Returns is a great port too, and a Link between Worlds is so nostalgia filled. I was deciding between a 3DS and a Vita, owned both before, but so glad I went 3DS. The games are just fun! It's a breath of fresh air. Even Mario v DK : Minis March On has so much music that hits the retro heartstrings, it's brilliant. Makes me feel like a teenager again!

Absolutely gutted. Was going to spend all day with Mario Golf and Cave Story, but my 3DS won't charge. It seems that the charging port is damaged.

Has anyone had this problem? There's a couple of fixes on YouTube - one involves popping some pins back up, but that appears not to have worked. The next thing is to open it up and put some solder on the contacts. I have absolutely no idea what I'd be doing (other than following the vid) but am willing to have a go.

Has anyone had similar problems and have any advice?

Fuck. I've bought everything digital for a couple of years. I hope I don't lose it all. Nintendo's draconian system seems as if it's about to bite me on the ass.

Been into work and borrowed the required stuff. Can't see me being successful, but I'll give it a whirl.

Right, my 3DS is in bits. Doesn't look like that anything is broken to my totally untrained eye. Gonna try and put it back together and go into town and track down an XL cradle then.

Don't be silly - When you have my complete illiteracy to electronics combined with my impatience for a couple of games I've been looking forward to, a sensible person turns into an irrational one.

It was the charging cable! Oops.

Edit: the reason I was convinced it was the port, is that I snagged it sharply while charging on Thursday and the plastic bit in the port is bent.
